There are numerous ways to get mixes. The simplest and easiest is to download them from the links presented on this site. To download a mix from a link on this web site; you probably have to RIGHT CLICK OVER THE LINK AND SELECT ‘SAVE AS.’ This is the fault of how the Internet Explorer browser handles links to mp3 files so complain to Microsoft not me.

However, as the files are large you probably want to get a Download Manager. These programs take over your web downloads and allow you to automatically resume; therebye making sure you will get the files finished and complete. Just pressing the link on a large file (especially if you are dialup) is very likely to result in your not getting the file at all.

We love people who make new material.

We currently accept mixes uploaded to our server by FTP. FTP will work with Internet Explorer, but a dedicated application like CuteFTP will allow you to resume and do other fun stuff. New mixers can get the ftp upload details by emailing us.We have limited space on the upload server so 200 MB per upload session is about enough for a couple of high bitrate mixes and should be fine.

Most mixes are between 20-80 minutes and encoded at 256kbs or lower (I recommend lowest quality variable bitrate with min/max bitrate set at 32kbs/320kbs if using CDex or RazorLame).

Most mixes have front, back and insert covers. Covers are considered an important part of the mix (like any good mix tape or mix cd) but are not required. Check around the site for peoples covers to see examples. I appreciate a band list for any mix.

We have a file size limit of 125 MB per mix.

Once your mix (and tracklist and covers and description, if you want) are uploaded and complete, let us know with an email. We generally post it within a month of it being uploaded, sometimes a lot sooner.

You can link your mix on other sites but not by using the direct link to the mp3. You can link as follows:

Your mix will appear on a page in the site like so: http://b00mb0x.org/front/cat_your_mixer_name.html. Beneath your mixes are listed. Beside the comments there is a 6 digit code. Add ?#? and this code to the link of your page for a link to your mix, with covers and comments included. The link will look something like this http://b00mb0x.org/front/cat_your_mixer_name.html#090889.

It looks far more complicated than it actually is, but it?s the best system we have. We won?t be able to host hotlinked mp3s for very long otherwise, but we are happy to host your mixes permanently on a high speed server if you link to us as above.

That?s it. Submitting a mix to b00mb0x also gets you, if you like, a b00mb0x email (which you can access via the web). You can also then contribute to the blog and gallery if you so wish. And let’s not forget the undying respect of your friends and loved ones. We used to give rimjobs from senior citizens but then the courts got involved.

b00mb0x is getting a facelift, manicure and, time-permitting, a rimjob. You can comment and make suggestions at our always exciting forum.

Folks with b00mb0x.org email addresses can now apply filters and change their own passwords via http://mailboxes.b00mb0x.org/. Anyone who wants a b00mb0x email/webmail account can have one.

We’ve despammed b00mb0x, so you’re gonna need to look elsewhere for your penis pill needs from now on. Some spam will probably still make it through, but not in the previous volumes and it’s a two minute job to clean any more incidents.

We’ve also rotated the mixes on the high speed server, meaning the front page mixes are the only ones available. We need to do this once every two months or so to conserve precious, precious bandwidth.

New material is not being posted until we can sort out a couple of server problems, sorry to anybody that’s been waiting a while for their mix to be posted. I’ll update this post when we have a permanent solution. Cheers.

UPDATE: The ftp archive is being closed for the summer, anything uploaded there not already posted will need to be re-uploaded directly to b00mb0x.org or the alternative backup at staticb0x.com. These servers work via FTP only, IRC, AIM and web functionality have been disabled. You can contact us for the connection information, an ftp tutorial will follow when I have time. Thanks.

Our trusty ftp has fallen over again. Consequently, the new material that has been uploaded there is inaccessible until we stand it back up again. I realise this is quite upsetting, I’m upset too. In the meantime, I’ve set up an alternative server for mixers to upload to. If you’ve got a mix you’re itching to get online, send me an email and I’ll forward you the details.

We’ve made a few changes to our servers, but we’ve run into a little snag. The fast server can no longer talk to the archive server. What the hell does that mean? Well, there might be a little delay in new material being posted until we can figure out a workaround.

Deep Disco Force, Lionel Vinyl, LV15, Ez-Lee, M3, Steve JH Christ, E-Jitz, Dunproofin and Pop Razors @ Trier in Germany on the 19th and 20th March. Full Details.

The fast server is down while we do a little bit of fiddling with the configuration. In the meantime, our trusty ftp will satisfy your mix needs, albeit at a lower transfer rate. A download manager is recommended when downloading from the ftp server.

Update: The server is back up now, but will not acccept external links, just links from b00mb0x. So if you’ve followed the link to a mix from another website, you will get a 403 access error.

Mixers who want to link their mix externally without throwing up these errors can follow one of these 2 methods:

1) Go to your page http://b00mb0x.org/front/cat_mixername.html

Under the new post there’s a code of numbers, append # followed by these numbers for a direct and permanent link to your mix.

http://b00mb0x.org/front/cat_mixername.html#000000

2) Open the ftp here. Find your mix. Right-click it and select properties. The url of the file appears, copy and paste it. This is also a permanent link, but the server is generally slower.

I’ll stick all this in a new FAQ shortly.
