Hi all, I’m working on bringing b00mb0x back properly. Covid-19 is at least giving me the time to figure out how the hell to do that. It might take me some time, bear with me. If you’re desperate to post a mix, let me know.

in-sympathy

It’s with great sadness that I must inform you all that Naz has tragically passed away in his sleep last night. This is all I know for the time being.

I’m sure you’ll all join me in sending our heartfelt sympathy to Eugene’s wife, family and friends.

I would like to say a big THANK YOU for giving us all a voice with this site. You are a proper star and will be sorely missed, mate…

Rest in peace brother

xx

Hey folks, its been too long since we’ve had a revamp. I need to have a conversation with as many contributors, donators, listeners, posting staff, admins, developers and owners. As traffic, seems to be down, I’m not going to leave this post up for the complete month of November. I’ll start the ball rolling; of course you can address any points that the purpose of this is to collect your own opnions and to make changes that we benefit the site in the long run. I’m on painkillers for my youth ATM, so apologies for my selling and syntax.

Hi All,
Thanks to all our subscribers for keeping us afloat for our 10th year. Renewal time is approaching fast, so any donations/subscriptions, little or large are appreciated. Paypal address www.paypal.com recipient donations@b00mb0x.org. Thanks!

Mixers, to celebrate 10 years of b00mb0x bong and I invite you to take part in a very special collaboration.

Bong will be taking submissions of mini-mixes lasting twenty minutes or less and collating them into 1 or more larger mixes for release in February. Let’s all show off our collective talents!

The folder is on the FTP entitled “10 Year Mix Project Folder”. Closing date is 24th of this month. Please ensure the filename contains your mixer name and is preferably in wav format. That’s it, just fill the 20 minutes with what you feel like!

Thanks,
naz

Edit: Increased maximum time from 10 to 20 minutes.

The Results are in
Congratulations To ALL The Winners/Runners Up

We’re going to re-instate the limit of one mix per month per mixer from the start of 2007. The number of mixes went a little crazy recently, and I for one had trouble giving everything a listen. It’s probably a good thing for the quality levels as well as the listening time. “Leave ’em wanting more” as somebody somewhere probably said sometime.

A reminder, too, of some of the things that can help us befuddled siteops when you upload or self-post your mixes:

  • only upload your next mix to the server (don’t clutter it with all the ones you want posted after that)
  • cover art is not mandatory, but helps the site and your mix to look good…depending on the picture 😉
  • please keep your covers under 300 KB and in jpeg, gif or png format

Cheers! The b00mb0x siteops.

It’s that time of year again.

You can check out the ballot here.

While the results are open to the public, voting is only enabled for those users that have registered on the b00mb0x forum AND, in a change to last year’s rules, have previously posted on the forum or on the mixes. Folks commenting on b00mb0x threads on other forums don’t count, we are keeping it to b00mb0x members this year. I’ll be adding people manually and I hope to get everyone added that should have a vote. You can test whether you have access or not with the poll on this thread. If you don’t and want access, please email us at siteops @ bmbx.org, giving your forum name or username you use for commenting and we’ll add you.

Okkkkkkkkkkkkkk … loosening the archiving restrictions for the entire site to three months caused a little consternation that I hadn’t envisioned, but looking at it again I suppose the few supporting the many has the potential to piss the few off. So that’s out the window then. Let no one say that when I see which way the wind is blowing that I do not also blow.

One option would have been to bring the restrictions back to one month. However, our hosting company have insanely increased our bandwidth and I wanted to pass this on. On the other hand, our subscribers make the whole site possible and subscribe for either the incentive of permanent hosting or archive access. I’m leaving the subscriptions in place but with a catch.

Every mix on b00mb0x is now public and available to download without restrictions. It sounds too good to be true and it just might be. There’s no incentive to subscribe any longer though and the site will depend on it’s subscriptions to go on. Ultimately, it will be the users of b00mb0x who fund it. There is a possibility that that won’t happen. This is something I wanted to do after the new year, but the lead ballon yesterday made me bring it forward.

I’ll refund any mixer who wants their subscription refunded. I’ll refund any other subscriber who joined in the last month. Please email me privately.

As a reminder from the Siteops:

Please upload .mp3 files for mixes only… do NOT upload zip files, as we have to download them, extract them, and then upload everything a second time, which takes much longer.

The mixers folder on the ftp is where we store the mixes after they are posted.  Please upload your new stuff only to the root on the ftp so we dont miss anything.  As we’re keeping the mixes ‘live’ for a month, the folder will get quite full and a new mix uploaded to there could easily be overlooked, which we want to avoid.

Lots of good tunes have been submitted already this month… more to be posted later today.  Thanks
