This is one excellent set. All tracks thrilled me, with 8, 10 & 15 being my faves. The Hives are my favorite ‘modern’ band.
Big praise to you for making this such a finely produced set. Thanks.
This is a wonderful, powerful mix, incorporating all kinds of tremendous guitar based stuff.
I too have recently been revisiting tunes such as these, including the likes of Ride.
Our eldest daughter was PROPA into them in her mid teens so i was familiar with em, but havin recently re-listened, I realised what a great band they were.
The newer bands in your mix have got my attention now tho. Like Toys, Hookworms, & Parquet Courts, as well as classics such as The Hives.
Thank you sir 🙂
Im now listenin to Hookworms : Pearl Mystic album 🙂
Oh, btw, do ya really live @ the eastern end of Lake Geneva ?
If so, yer a very lucky man 🙂
I half expected this to quietly pass by without a comment, but looks like there is a b00mb0x market for guitar stuff after all!
Yes, I live near Montreux as my work is based in Lausanne. Roots all over the place now… Sussex, Yorkshire, London, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Switzerland……
I actually listen to more guitar stuff than anything else, I’ve just never tried putting it into a mix. Hence, I enjoyed this, a couple of personal faves here (Strokes, Parquet Courts) as well as some good stuff I hadn’t heard before. And like Firestopper, I’d never quite realised how great Ride were – they kind of passed me by at the time, mainly because it was the early ’90s and I wasn’t listening to much except dance music, but Leave Them All Behind is awesome.

Fugazi “Waiting Room” has to be the funkiest punk song, killer bassline. Hives another fave in this mix.

Thanks guys. Been in a heavily guitar influenced listening phase, old and new. This was the result.
