This is my thirtieth mix! Fuckin THIRTY!! To celebrate, I whipped up a batch of some of the best cuts I could find for my favorite genres. It kicks off with the usual beachlike house, shifts into disco territory, gets clubby just for a quick moment, and then spaces out.
So for those of you who have been along with the ride, I tried to include something for everyone.
wasn’t into it as much as i liked your previous few mixes… big room club music’s never been my sketch… however, it’s done with style and that’s all that matters
As usual Vepik, a spendid selection of tracks mixed to perfection. Can’t believe you’ve banged out 30 Lazy//Sexy’s (copies of which are residing on my CD shelves at home, and the wife loves em – High praise indeed!) – I’ll have a celebratory drink in celebration! 😉
10 Minutes in, really, REALLY liking the first couple of tracks!!!
Am a little worried about PATT though, may have to skip it so it doesn’t skew my impression of the mix. I’m afraid it’s not my bag. No doubt every other tune will be though!
Will report back once I reach the end!
Well, minus PATT (although this is just my humble opinion), the track selection is faultless.
Some really good vibes throughout the mix.
Ian Carey always seems to deliver with his re-works, I’ve got a few at home and each one is boss!
Anyway, a nice mix to mark another L//S landmark with. 3/5ths of the way to 50 Mixes!
Next mix up is your collaboration with Bong.
Probably won’t get to listen to that until Sunday though, will have to see!
Dj Funsko – I’ve used your tracks in a lot of my mixes. You have a “get to the point” attitude with disco house, and it often provides the necessary injection or peak hour sound that I like in my sets.
TeeMix – Believe it or not, that’s the original mix of PATT. I don’t think the original version gets played often. Surrounding the inclusion of PATT: A lot of the people that listen to my mixes (close friends, college students), this is as far as it goes for “dance music” for them. So while we’ve all heard it more than we’d care for, for them, it was their first time.
…after hearing this mix over and over again, I find myself skipping to the last three tracks 😉
Yeah, totally know what you mean Vepik RE: “this is as far as it goes for (“dance musicâ€) for them”. I’m fed up of trying to explain or justifying my love of dance music, especially seeing as I consider myself to have a very broad taste in music – the only stuff I don’t tend to listen to is metal and cheese.
The people who always go “but its so easy top make! Where is the skill in that” to which my reply is normally something short, sharp and to the point, starting with ‘F’ ending with ‘off’.
I’m an American who’s been researching, listening, and constructing dance music and sets since 1998 — while my friends all listened to Linkin Park, so to speak. So the only dance music they hear is either radio shit (Darude “Sandstorm”, for example) or my sets.
So they like dance music, just only the stuff I throw at them (as well as other stuff on the ‘b0x).
And when they say “it’s so easy to make”, I just give them a demo copy of Acid Pro 6.0 and tell them to have fun. A few days later it’s, “that shit is fuckin’ impossible!”
Bit late commenting on this one as the filter at work objects to pages with the word “sexy” in the URL…
Anyway – another great selection. Congratulations on making it to the big 30. I like house but I’m not a house-head so I probably don’t appreciate all the subtleties. What I do know is that every lazy/sexy mix I’ve listened to is packed full of laidback class.

All of your artwork Rocks. Do you make them yourself?
I wish! The artwork is friend/fan submitted. I just throw the crappy logo over it in some artsy way.

Hey dude, thanks for using my track…

Hey Tom – don’t give up on the PATT choon – I’m like you, not really my bag either, but I’ve not heard this version, and it works really well.
Vepik – what mix of PATT is it?

Love it.
Lol, I like that, I’ll have to bare that in mind next time. Cheers for the tip! 😀
