in this mix i provided the first tune… which i then rendered and sent via yousendit, in WAV format, for Vepik to mix into. He then mixed into it, rendered the result and yousent me the track back, again in WAV format – edited to about 10 seconds before his tune choice starts to be mixed in. the results were loaded onto wavelab in a timeline/audio montage… which i then used to match up to the arrangement/get the vols right. i then mixed into that and repeated the sending back and so on till we reached the 79 mins mark… we kept discussions to a minimum about what the mix was gonna do and what to use and i was genuinely buzzin’ with how this mix progressed. every other day or so a newbit arrived which was mixed into and returned. whole thing took about 3 weeks to do. i’m lookin’ fwd’s to doing another one, at some point in time 😀
I’ve always held Bong’s mixing and musical selection to high regard, so I’ll be honest, going into this I was a little intimidated (and honored to say the least). I assumed this would take a thousand years as a result of meticulous track selection.
It ended up being way too much fun for any worries, and it worked out just the same. There really is something awesome about having someone send you a tune and you thinking “How do I enhance this tune and make the mix better?” The end result really took me by surprise — it sounded exactly how I’d pictured a colab effort with this guy.
Love it! Surely a contender for mix of the year, every tune on here is a gem. It builds up beautifully and the last four tunes are awesome, especially Echologist “Moving On” – tune!
Finally got round to listening today. Well smooth and lots of great music. Seemed to be quite a dreamy selection to my ears but I’m not really a house expert. I liked the spanish track a lot.
I know what you mean about collaborations being a great way to work. When I did the mixes with HP it was always exciting when I got sent the next installment.
Well, just finished listening to this mix and I have to say I really enjoyed it! Was listening to Timeloop’s ‘chaos’ mix prior to this one and it has followed on nicely!
Top tracks with a cracking finisher.
As ever, looking forward to the next installment! 😀

I listened to this while watching football. Action Packed. Lots of nice touches. Bangin’ and swingin’. Top mix.
Peace.
Dunno if the “special relationship” between Thatcher & Reagan produced anything meaningful, but this trans-Atlantic amalgamation certainly has!!!

I don’t know any of those bands, according to the title of the mix, it should be house ?
Will download and listen this afternoon, my wife loves house music.

Next up is a happy hardcore set much like the days of Anabolic Frolic. Lirpa’s gonna have his hand in this one as well. Gonna be a corker!!

Very enjoyable listening, and my wife loved it as she could exercise one full hour with some music that suited excactly the exercises she was doing.
I could use something like this when I’m not in the mood for the day.
Ps: my 18 month old seems to like it as well, much more than my mixes actually!!! she’s moving in rhythm right as I write those lines.

Oh, and I took Vepik at face value when he said “next up is a happy hardcore mix” and got all excited – even pm’ed him!
I still maintain that Sharkey’s mix on Bonkers 2 is one of the all time greats to this day. It takes all sorts 🙂
