Yes, as superb as I thought it would be, the Primal Scream track was an inspired choice to end on and I’ll have to wait a few months before using Alvin Lucier meself! I am sure this will be there or there abouts for the 2007 vote (it will for me anyway 😀 😀 … and you have got me inspired now as well, thanks again hp

hp – go ahead and use Alvin Lucier straight away. If someone misses this mix they might catch yours instead.

A major part of putting this out was the hope that people might go and search out the full version of “I am sitting in a room” and give it a listen. It’s such a simple premise and leads to a fascinating, beautiful, hypnotic result.

Everybody should hear the whole Alvin Lucier – I used part of it to get him saying that he was shitting in a room on my I am Bent mix a few years ago.

I love the cover & hope you have heard Chilled Water which is a nod & a wink to your Shhh.. mix.

Lucier features a lot on the two versions of the DJ Food “Raiding the 20th Century” mixes as well.

I’ve not listened to this one yet Mwude, but I voted for Sssh in the mix of the year so I’ll definitely be checking it out.

Interesting, I had marked down somewhere to go and investigate this Lucier track after reading Paul Morley’s “Words & Music” which talks about it a lot. Now I don’t have to find it – cheers.

btw, I gave up on that Morley book about 1/3rd of the way in. Unreadable.

Top mix as expected! Really liked this one and the use of “sitting in a room” throughout was really subtle – a change from loads of different spoken samples.

Hey matrix, I was made aware of I am Sitting in a Room by Paul Morley’s book as well. I also gave up about a third of the way through. Dire. And I thought it was down to my lack of intellect. You’ve made me feel much better m8 😉

As much as I wanted to get into Morley’s book, I soon realised it was absolute tripe. Listening to Raiding the 20th Century is much more advisable.

I’ll have a listen to this mix – the first two tracks are worth it alone.

😯 Oh sacralige – I canna believe what you are all saying about Morley’s book – Sure it’s a bit long winded & full of OCD lists but I found it a fascinating read. At least it has made more people aware of Shiting in Room.

I enjoyed this a lot.The stylistic bent is enacted with passion & talent. None of the tracks are out of place.They deliver with fullness a satisfying aural experience.I knew sigur,a.twin & p.scream.The rest were all new & pleasing.
Wonderful cover there,also.

5 minutes in and I’m lovin’ it. Sat with headphones on, ( so as not to wake her ) and I stumble on this, whilst stoned as well, fan-fuckin’-tastic !!!!
It’s what floating was invented for………….
