It’s nearly awards time! Mixers have until the 5th of November to nominate one of their own mixes/remixes/tunes apiece in the following categories for public voting.

Best Mix
Best Remix
Best Song Selection
Best Electronic

There’s also a Best metal mix ever and best Mixer category that doesn’t require nominations. If you don’t nominate, we’ll pick a mix on your behalf. All mixes that appeared on this page between December 2002 and November 2003 qualify. We’ve bumped the dates up this year so we can get cracking on the voting forms before Christmas, booze and drugs wrap their tentacles around us. Email admin@b00mb0x.org with your nominations.

Here’s how: Go to http://b00mb0x.org/front/cat_mixername.html

Check the six digit code under the mix entry and add a # before it.

Add that to end of the url. http://b00mb0x.org/front/cat_mixername.html#000000, for example.

You get fast free hosting of a couple of gigs of bandwidth and the site gets a few pages views. Everyone’s happy.

Dizzee Rascal is the most exciting rapper on the planet. A completely fresh voice, hyper-emotional, he sounds like he’s at war with himself. “I luv U” the first single taken from it was like some couple having a nasty, heated phone conversation backed by http://b00mb0x.org. READ MORE

So we got sorted out for tickets to the local kill bill premier by everyone’s favourite barman, Johnny. It’s a midnight premier so the only difficulty is that two o’clock sees us embedded in a local bar fighting the good fight trying to throw off minging hangovers from the night before. Ten hours to go to kill bill. Ten hours of drinking to go to kill bill. You can see the dilemmia. We had a similar deal with the Matrix Reloaded when we were all so loaded none of us could remember a thing about it the next day. To be honest I seen it sober since and I still can’t remember http://b00mb0x.org. READ MORE

I Am Kloot’s eponymous second album sees head honcho John Bramwell fill out and expand their sound to suit their dark night lullaby feel. I’m trying to save a bit of cash for my trip to New York next month, so I’ve been (trying) to choose my nights out carefully. Although you wouldn’t know it from Thursday night, when I succumbed to Jack and his friend’s wishes and went to a freshers night in Molly’s after a couple of quiet pints in the Central Bar. After an hour and a half adrift in a sea of 18 year-olds screaming the lyrics to the Proclaimers 500 miles, you’d think I would have seen sense http://b00mb0x.org. READ MORE

Our new server is set up, hosting the last 2/3 months of mixes and all of the remixes on a fast http:// server. So that’s good news then. Bad news is that there might be a few dead links that got warped in the find/replace. If you spot one of these, please email deadlinks@b00mb0x.org.

Please link to hosted mixes using the timestamp link under the mix instead of directly to the mp3, we’re not a fucking charity.

The streams have to go (for now at least). Basically, just because of the time involved in uploading them. In their place, over the next few weeks, will be many more mixes being stored on the fast server for much longer (probably up to three months). Crypticon has bought his own Internet server, and we’ve got space there starting next week.

What with Super Furry Animals playing here recently and Spiritualized playing last night, Dolan’s Warehouse in Limerick is getting some top bands to play there. Although as myself, naz and zumbar entered at quarter past nine, I was thinking there might be a low turnout for this gig. Limerick without stewdents makes a big difference. But we waited on an hour and passed the time by mistakingly drinking each other’s beers and cracking jokes (such as the time when naz’s brother who works behind the bar was called http://b00mb0x.org.
