Salmagundi by Solcofn
Solcofn has made himself well known for pioneering abstract, provocative, and devious tunes in his edgy sets of bloops-n-bleeps meets ambience. Salmagundi kicks off this set razor sharp with “Watch Out”, which is a fair warning with this man in charge.
It becomes quite clear that he has the best intentions for the dancefloor. Listeners may draw comparisons to Radio Soulwax, as the crunching rock sounds mashup with squeaky electro in a proper Killer’s remix that’ll leave you dancing like it’s an iPod commercial. This is full on, leave-the-club-sweating music that carries well on past the breaks of “Second Lesson” into the chopped up vocals of Basement Jaxx’s more noteworthy releases, remixed of course to suit this glitchy, funky sound.
There’s no mercy, by the way — you’ll just have to dance it out. Salmagundi sets its hooks in early and doesn’t throw you back to sea until you’re gasping for air. Sure, things take a dreamy, ambient turn for a while, but the beats are all there to remind you who is in charge. Then “Theme From Dischoteque” kicks off the peak of this mix with its appropriate vocals and alarm sirens, and all hell breaks loose.
The mix ends, and you’re left with a grim reality. If this mix doesn’t fill you with energy, then call your local psychologist: you’re catatonic, and you’re missing out on one helluva ride.

Listened to half of this mix, comments so far……
The mixing is impeccable; I’m still not convinced that this isn’t one 30 min track that changes styles, tempo and beats every five mins or so!! That’s how good the mixing is!
The tunes are all good, some better than others, but overall a winner so far! I’ll report back later on the second half.

Yeah, I have that problem. I find that somedays I just can’t get it, and others I could mix all day.
Great mix Solcofn. As Vepik says this can’t fail to move you. Love the heavy bass sound this has. Sounds quite French in places too. Nice 8)
