Cheers for posting Swamps, glad you like it Bongy la, and I’m 99% you’ll like it too Matt…
Not sure why, but it’s taken me five years to get round to doing a 100% soul mix.
I think overall it worked out pretty well, with some new, some old, some classics and some new remixes of old classics. Put a GSH track in memory of the great man, I’d have loved to used a few more but it just didn’t work out with BPMs.
Had to put in ‘Come in Out Of The Rain’ in there as it’s quite possibly the most under-rated soul tune ever (it’s not even in the Greatest Hits of Parliament, I mean, wtf?!), along with Chairmen of The Board, who are possibly the most under-rated soul band ever…
hah… made me havva listen to parliament. got all that stuff ripped to me hdd. brilliant rekkid osmium/rhenium. however, i hav to disagree, cos itz the next trak which iz the tru cosmic mindblower – silent boatman – bagpipes!!! freakin bagpipes!!!!! & they sound brilliant 🙂
Cheers fellas…I’ve got enough soul music to do a ton more mixes, so I’ll get on it. Got to admit that I did enjoy it, soul music gets me in a good mood without fail. Can’t promise that I’ll be able to do anything to compare with KM’s magnificent series of Soul Societies
I’ll have to put in some Solomon Burke in the next one, considering that the genre of ‘soul’ was created for him, as he thought that the title of ‘R&B’ was not suitable for his music…not a lot of people know that!!
When I was into punk music only, this would have driven me crazy.
However my tastes have widened broadly,& I found big favour with this.
Splendid to see it get such a fine reaction in comments.Congrats on a fine flow!
Thanks.

I’ll probably do another soul mix sometime soon.

You’ve got a good point there Swamps…bagpipes in a tune that doesn’t sound f’in stupid is very hard to do and they do nail it with Silent Boatman.
The whole album is fantastic though
This looks like it’s going to be pretty special, can’t wait to give it a listen.
Top stuff, really enjoyed this good to hear lots of new material as well especially the first half of the mix. You should do some more soul mixes!
totally!

i thought everyone knew that… 😈
great Soul mixtape Stu! good tune-age!
gave it a recommendation over at my place this morning!

lovely stuff – some old, some new and all solid gold. you really should do a show for saturday soul on purple radio – would go down a treat!!
Ta Len! If it’s just one mix I’ll give it a go, but I’m just too f’in busy to do a regular slot…no idea where the time goes!!
yep – let me know when you can sort one and I’ll pencil you in.
Another great mix. Very smooth transitions, loved the funk breaks into 4/4 breaks funk party music at the end. Bring on vol 2…
I listened to this while hanging out with the Mrs…if you know what I mean. 😉
Good stuff.
hahahahahaha……not much hanging ‘out’ going on though I suspect…

Fantastic Mix. It really took off for me with The Dramatics, but the whole thang was great. Peace.
