Briscoe – Disco Not House mix
I have a lot of disco I’ve picked up at thrift and record stores that sounds more like house, and is representative of the kind of house I like. Too often I get very bored with house, repetitive without a good hook or compelling vocals. Too often house sounds like they didn’t try too hard. No live instruments, no change up in rhythm, etc. I love producers like MAW, Blaze, Joe Claussell, Mateo & Matos, Derrick Carter, etc. because they bring it to another level. Well, these artists brought it to another level, and some of these tracks are known well (Pigbag), and many I’ve never heard in a mix. I never can stick to my own rules, so I cheated with a couple edits that I like better than the originals, and one bona fide house track that never got the attention it deserved (Malcolm McLaren- from one of the best house albums ever “Paris Instrumentals: The Largest Movie House in Paris”). Hope you enjoy.
Dr Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band – Mister Love
Rah Band – Messages From the Stars
Chic – My Feet Keep Dancing
Charlie Mike Sierra – On The Moon
Hall & Oates – Running From Paradise
Montreal w/ Uchenna Ikejiani – Lights Of Montreal
Daddy Dewdrop – The Real Thing (Instrumental)
LEB Harmony – Feeling Love
Elektrik Dred – Butter Up (Instrumental)
w/ Crash Course In Science – Flying Turns
Bo Hansson – De Svarta Ryttarna / Flykten FrÃ¥n Vadstället
Gichy Dan – On A Day Like Today (Todd Terje edit)
Gary’s Gang – Let’s Lovedance Tonight (Danny Krivit edit)
Nexus – Stand Up (Instrumental)
Jah Wobble / Liebezeit / Czukay – How Much Are They?
Yukihiro Takanawa – Dragon Lady (Instrumental)
Stevie Wonder – Race Babbling
Eruption – Movin’
Azymuth – Jazz Carnival
Malcolm McLaren – Paris Deux
Pigbag – Papa’s Got A Brand New Pigbag
hhhmmm…some I know, some I don’t. I have to be in the mood for disco, but if this is anything like your solid gold ‘Night Moves’ mix I’ll defo be in the mood
Hope you liked the mix Dangerscouse. The first part is vocal, then goes into mostly instrumental. The Bo Hansson track in the middle gives space for a breather, then sounds like an Underground Resistance track – even though it is actually a Swedish jazz piece from 1972 on his “Music Inspired by Lord of the Rings”LP.
superb mix briscoe
