This is an r&b/italo mix with visions of the future, if you were looking to the future from the 1970’s. I left all the crate digging to the defunkt lovefingers crew. I wanted to purge my lovefingers folder to make a mix that is close in style to a Lindstrom mix. Starting off with Denise Williams’ Free, just a killer soul track that I’ve had stuck in my head for years now, waiting for the right mix. 90-112bpms. Hope you like space funk.
Great mix!…. Chilled Out Space Disco Yummyness. EnJoYed the ride!!!
Ryuichi Sakomoto รขโฌโ Plastic Bamboo (w/ Derrick Carter รขโฌโ New Wave Punk Out) …. This was quite special. New one for me. Nice! I really love this cover! Really.. Fantastic cover! Fantastic movie!
Thanks a lot! I had fun making the mix, trying for a theremin fueled spacey vibe. I lived in Ft Worth as a kid in the 70’s, and some of Logan’s Run was shot there. Weird, cuz as a kid the movie gave me the creeps. Weirder still to think of Ft Worth as futuristic, but it worked for the 70’s. http://www.racprops.com/issue1/locations_logansrun/
that opener is the absolute bomb (can i get a copy??). Rest of the mix is great too – love the vibe, the mixing and RIP lovefingers – i used to dig the tunes on that blog ๐
Thanks Lenodd! I’m Donald Lehman on Facebook, the one with the family shot. I’ll send you the track. Minnie Ripperton did a shorter version, but I like this one better. Lovefingers was great because you know they listened to a LOT of crap, and pulled out the gems for us. It’s like when you go to a record or thrift store and get nauseated by the rows of garbage, and more so because there might be a killer song in there somewhere.
When i hear the D. Williams “Free” track in my head, Level 42’s “Something About You” mixes it’s way in at a slower tempo, but if I went that direction I would have painted myself into a corner.
