Well, as I missed Halloween I guess this will have to be put forward as half a Halloween mix, half a Christmas Ghost mix…and that’s only cos I tagged 15 seconds of Michael Hordern from an MR James Christmas ghost story on the end.
Hi HP, well up early, cricket & work and listening….. have to say it’s all coming back how complex yours are, amazing soundtrack… where do you find the samples?
Have you got access to audio vaults somewhere? Many moons ago I used to search out sound pieces such as this to paint to.. this would have created an interesting series 😉 …really interested to hear what your xmix turns out like. I think that’s the interesting part.. putting your mix style on it.. 🙂
A great mix, HP! Incredibly visual especially the drowing passage and the horrifying caretaker minutes. Uncanny till the end. I heared my own breath when it was over…
SAT you wouldn’t believe the shite I have stored away ready for use one day. Folder after folder of tracks/samples. God knows when I will ever get round to using them all but I’ll keep plugging away 😉
Disko/Bong thanks for kind words and yeah Bong be nice to see this up for next Halloween!
Excellent. Very well done. I really love all the elements used putting this together (spoken word, instrumentals, n assorted sounds n effects). The track-list looks great, and I will take the time to look-up most of the artists whom I had never heard of. A great listen anytime, but will provide for a wonderful treat come Halloween. Peace.
Can’t believe I haven’t got round to commenting yet. Sorry ’bout that. Needless to say I love this bad boy.
It’s a spookier take on the classic HP style. Atmospheric, immersive, and detailed yet sparse and minimal. Loads of great spoken clips and staying the right side of being too scary for me to listen to while on my own in the house.
I really love all of this mix – pretty much faultless.
I’m not convinced that tape on the radio show is actually hell though, sounds more like the sounds of the Thunder Looper at Alton Towers to me.
I went to see Moon Wiring Club perform a video mix / live set thing at Modern Art Oxford at the weekend and it was a really similar vibe so his tracks fit perfectly in this mix.
Keep up the amazing work. Have you got anything else in the pipeline ? 🙂
