so, yeah – april has come and gone and I never got the Soul Society mixtape out. best laid plans and all that, right? I’m trying to play “catch up” right now and the good folks here at BMBX have offered to throw both the April and May mixes up this month – so, thank the digital mixtape godz that they are, it’s much appreciated!
it’s not the most coherent mixtape I’ve put together – but it’ll still pass most quality control systems – let me convince you – download and listen. repeat. oh, and collect them all.
many thanks to the dirt_dog for putting my cover together again this month!
Wow! Another Spectacular adventure in the Soul Society. It could never be too late for this. The intro(s) for this one, & the three previous ones, are some of the best I’ve ever heard…All the sampling is masterfully done, & the songs which are, in most cases, far different from each other both in style and genre, maintain a soul moving vibe that lends themselves to a joyful overriding experience. One question is, “Who is the female vocal sample in the gramaphonedzie track?” But great work as always. Peace.

Great to see this series back on track, after the crash, with another great mix.
Another sweet selection of classic soul in the first half – I hope you’ve left something in the cupboard for later.
I’m less than 1/3 into this and love it! nice work as usual ๐
