hey there everyone… 2010 is here and you’re all invited to spend the year with me in the Soul Society! Funk, soul, jazz, reggae, hip-hop, new beatz and a whole lot of craziness to be found in this alternate dimension! Spiritual warriors, space rangers, cowboys, cavemen characters and run of the mill superheroes all jam out to these monthly soundtracks…
that’s right… I’m attempting to put a new “Soul Society” mixtape out at the beginning of each month for 2010. 12 months, 12 mixes… come spend this year in the Soul Society – you can all stay at the Royal Palace…! (there’s plenty of room!)
quick shouts to 4 Brothers Beats, Vincent the Soul Chef @ fufu, stew & Larry over @ funky16corners (I’ve undoubtedly cribbed some of these tunes from their respective, excellent sites)… on with the show!
enjoy! – King Megatrip

A new mix, well it’s about time Mr Megatrip.
I just about gave up on you.
Hippy New Year… well done.
Looks like i got something to look forward to each month, this first installment is top notch. Loved the sample skit at the beginning and the artwork is great as well.
Can’t wait for the next 11!
great mix – love the interludes and that chali 2na tune is the bomb. the next one’s a bit rude, mind 😉
a great start to what i’m feeling is a great decade.. dont wanna wish the year away but c’est la vie
This is another great Megatrip mix that has whetted my appetite for more of the same. So I checked out the links King. Now I have downloads queuing up whilst I jive to the Soul Society. Thanks.
As always brilliant intro – top selections & priceless soundbites – what more could you want? awesome 🙂
Great concept and well executed, as ever. Some old faves, and lovely to finish with James Carr.
I wondered how long it would take for the soul society to flip to hip-hop and it was about 42 minutes by my reckoning! Loved the master ace tune – def tracking that one down.
Good luck with the schedule – not long til February.
your mixes truly and deeply rock Megatrip. the Soul Society is incredible. your sampling prowess is superb. i love your taste in film/tv clips (ie the rockford files, “alright, everyone, eyes over here…”) and your latest mix is a fine testament to your incredible mixing, sampling, timing and choice of tracks.
your mixes are in constant rotation at my weekly (running 4 years) poker game and they get rave reviews.
thanks again! looking very forward to the upcoming editions.
cheers,
blane
Wonderful listen with this one.
I had many fun moments that stood out.
Not an uncommon experience with hearing your posts.
Thanks.
🙂
Great find, thank you so much for the sounds
Bit late but…I loved this as I knew I would. Always room for more of your mixes on my ipod Matt. Cheers, and looking forward to the other nine…
