Well , here’s my stab at the Cosmic Disco trend. Known artists with mainly unkown songs and a couple new tunes to boot. All started with Phil Collins, the original of I’m Not Moving is so infectious, and from there it was about finding and putting together an all star mix. The Ace Frehley track sets the mood, this isn’t polished , but it can be cheesy and dirty without losing it’s edge. Many of these tracks are new to me , so it was a fun mix. And , yes , the Osmonds pull out a killer track.
Very nice mix… definately need to check it out despite the glance of the set list… surprise!
definitely a surprise… huge heads fan but seems out of place in this grouping… a david byrne solo tune… like Strange Overtones off latest album would sub in nicely
i’ll amend… naive melody works though not as obscure/fitting in as a byrne tune might be?
Thank you guys. I felt that anything with 4/4 beats was fair play for Cosmic Disco, but I wanted to stay away from the regular disco fare. And , with established artists, they bring a musicality and experience that seems to be lacking in a lot of sampled modern tracks. This set owes a lot to

and

The guys at lovefingers spend a lot of time listening to crap to find the gems they uncover.
crazy horses has always been my killer osmonds track! i’ll have to admit i couldn’t really get into this mix but i did have the revelation that ace frehley must be singing about taking E cos it was rife on the ny disco scene at that period of time and the lyrics make sense, hehe. so kudos there, if be!!.. anyways, all power all the same 😉
good stuff – great to see cosmic disco being represented *strokes beard*
Not feeling the phil collins track (you cant polish a turd in my book), but enjoyed the rest of it – looks like i need to pull my finger out and get another disco mix out there!
BTW – lovefingers seems to have disappeared! I love that blog too…
Great mix… I’m losing the pigeon-holing plot though; cosmic disco seems to have passed me by as a name. Thanks for bringing me up to speed 🙂
Nice touch Briscoe.
Goodnight Tonight is a bit of a Cosmic Disco classic.
Well, Baggy plays it regularly anyways.
Thanks for the props.
I just discovered your comment… thanks for the props! Long time no talk. Downloading your mix now… props for sticking ELO and MGMT in the same mix!
