I wanted to put together a mix tape like when I was a teen. I can’t tell you how many I put together and sent to friends. Unfortunately, I have lost my touch, back in the day I never knew what the bpms were, didn’t care, just used the pause button and next track from vinyl or tape. As with most of my mixes, this is a hill from low to high bpms, but this really isn’t a mix per se, just a compilation. These songs are the ones that get me singing in the car, store, living room, etc. I should call this Youth Revised (revised since I put some newer tracks that I would’ve liked as a youth).

My bad, it’s La Roux. Great vocalist, song reminds me of a Eurythmics vibe, I often sing it since it’s stuck on repeat in my head.

Loved the synth pop numbers and most definitely took me back to my youth. Some of the tracks seemed a little out of place for me but on the whole a nice selection. Thanks

nice concept – tunes not all for me, but executed with panache and style 🙂

god i’ve got tons of mixtapes in the basement gathering dust…

as i already said, i also liked the concept from the beginning. now i finally managed to even listen to it…
it was not really reminiscent of the periond i consider my youth but the tunes somewhat allowed me to imagine how your youth could have been which was nice. i guess my youth was just one decade after yours. not that i am considering this music as oldies but it is somewhere in between that and the music that accompanied me when i was a teenager i reckon.
after all it was a very enjoyble trip through the late 80s (i guess that pin points it pretty ok?). of course with the exceptions of these newer tracks that you added.
btw the MGMT – Kids track, i heard that on the radio some time and liked it but never knew what it was so thanks for this one as well!
    another good one…

Thanks very much guys! Yep, late 80’s, was very big into synth pop, punk, alternative, industrial and house music. Of course, found some gems in my dad’s collection as well.
