This mix took a long time to complete & is in the style of MILF WEED & part of the Drug Session mixes as Volume 2: LSDisco. It’s a small tribute to Albert Hoffmann (who died at 102 last week, RIP) & the acid generation.
It’s a challenging bombardment of disembodied voices over ambient music, taken from the acid generation of the 50’s & 60’s. Starting off with Albert’s Bicycle Ride, an audio representation of his accidental ingestion of Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, we hear the sound of him peddling his bike towards the very first LSD psychedelic trip. Sounding like the bastard offspring of the KLF & the Orb, they are ambient & sound representations of what it might be like tripping.
Later in the mix we hear from Timothy Leary, Ken Kesey, students involved in the laboratory tests & various authoritative voice overs appropriated from that era. A Paranoid Bad Trip gets captured by the CIA; the Hallucination Generation goes into Hippie Revolt & a classroom of high school students show No Fear discussing taking LSD & those freaky chromosomes. Colors become complete in a Monogramatic World. American Military troops (normal soldiers) loose control & laugh senseless into Alice Trenton’s long trip into Acidland.
Like a LSD trip itself these “sound painting” sections seemed to want to wander off in their own direction but I present to you a loose (rough) mix of LSD samples, appropriated from various DVD’s & you tubes. There was plenty that could have gone into the mix & you may notice that I did not include many of the staple acts, The Stones, The Beatles (no Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds), no Hendrix, no Doors although Pink Floyd was heavily represented.
A big thank you to Celebrity Murder Party (CMP) for his collaboration on this mix. King Megatrip for sample contributions & Strictly Kev for his friendship & support. Interactive tracklist & videos here: http://colonelmustardrecords.com/DJHDD/LSD/
I found it thoroughly interesting, with lots of cool mixing.Must’ve been something to pass it around.Makes me want to be there to see the technique.
Congrats & thanks for a fascinating listen.
(& hey! That’s some fine job keeping track of the playlist)
Thanks Useo – But you would’nt have wanted to be here to see the technique – it was slow, laborious & frustrating. The amount of takes, mistakes & outtakes – I have a number of them that were not used, enough to make another mix. 8 months in the making. It also gets played on ABC National radio in the next week or 2.
Next week he is playing part 1 of MILF WEED, the week after part 2, then on the 3rd week… LSDisco. 3 weeks in a row as part of his Solid Steel subscription. Makes it almost seem worth it. I’m chuffed 🙂

Great work DJHDD! I’m always attracted by “sound paintings” – and this one is really inspiring. Good old Hoffman, RIP.
Looks like Kev might be playing this on Solid Steel in a couple of weeks
This is DOPE! I’ll take another dose. Peace.
