This looks very interesting. Bought ‘Sub Island’ by Skream not long ago, been trying to find a good place to stick it in a mix but haven’t had much luck yet. Will report back once I’ve had a good listen although I’m about 3 weeks behind with regards to the mixes on here :s
Greet-ings, new member. This was very welcome. I was also struck by the big windup & finish.
Enjoyed throughout, though.
I was mighty pleased with the cover too.
Cheers, the mix was recored in Ableton Live. Would of had a nightmare trying to get some of the mixes on time on decks. Plus my mp3 collection out does my vinyl collection about 1000 to 1!
I know what you mean about getting the tunes to mix, I did suspect that you’d used a PC. If you hadn’t, I’d have thrown my CD decks out of the window now as I was obviously miles off from the competition π
You thought about using CD decks? Mine will play mp3’s as well. As my CD collection probably has over 2000 albums, it was a no-brainer for me in terms of vinyl or CD mixing.
Can’t say I’ve ever tried cd decks. Does seem a good idea though as gives you more hands on approach and you can get to use all your mp3s. A mate of mine uses final scratch which is pretty impressive he just takes his laptop when he plays out instead of lugging a massive crate of records.
I do enjoy the blood sweat and tears of mixing, although it can be very frustrating as well.
If you’re starting off I’d recommend the Denon DNS-1000 decks, they’ve got loads of extras (loop, flanger, reverse and more) for a relatively cheap price….I say relatively as it still set you back ΓΒ£600 for a new pair.
but that final scratch programme sounds like it could be a good idea as well….and probably loads cheaper!!
Nice mix.
Some great switches in genre, which is very up my street.
It takes me long enough to mix with Acid, crap only knows how long I’d be with decks…

This was every bit as good as the high hopes I had for it. One of the best mixes I’ve heard this year and defo a keeper. Was this done on decks or PC?

Ha, I wish I could say I did it all on vinyl.
