This mix is now 10 years old, recorded onto cassette via the mixing desk for the VIP after party, for the final Aussie Doors Show; Who were a cover tribute band to the Doors & were very succesful in the 90’s & one of the better tribute live acts. They did not want “dance” music & hated “techno” & as I could not concive playing “rock n roll” all night we settled on this (then) new genre called “trip hop”. 2 Pioneer CD players & 1 pioneer CDJ 500 mixer, some Jim Morrison samples from American Dream & a tonne of trip hop funkeness.
I cannot remember the full tracklisting & it has been due to this “forgetfulness” that I have held off ever posting it. So I am hoping the B00mb0x community can help me fill in the blanks. Here’s what I remember:
Trumpets & Violins – Bill Laswell’s Axiom Funk
If 6 was 9 – Bootsy Collin’s Axiom Funk
A.P.E – Cities
? – (Dope on plastic)
? – (Dope on plastic)
? – (Dope on plastic)
Dub Syndicate – Stoned Immacalute
The Woodshed – Reefaman Cometh
? – Portishead
Some silly CD scratching at the end to prove it could be done.(This was before the CD1000’s)
The second part of the mix was lost (did’nt record) & although it’s been re-mastered from cassette, apart from a small amount of hiss is ok in terms of quality (I hope).
An enjoyable set. Thanks for the backstory. It aided my pleasure.I liked it all, even the aggressive end-scratching,with the exception of that annoying thing starting about 41:24.It really irked me,which was still stimulating.Glad that part wasn’t longer.
The cover is good, but you deserve credit.A tough one to place fonts,I reckon.
He he thanks for understanding about the cover -I gave it a shot & thought narh, this is too hard, just leave it the way it is.
The mix has another story, a bit like a time warp back to the 60’s, I was obsessed with this chick, who was obsessed with the Jim Morrison “look a like” who fronted the tribute band, some bad acid & a fight with the Irish roadie. Trust me to try & hit on Jim’s girl 🙄
wasn’t too into the dope of plastic cuts but the rest from dub syndicate was right up my straat.. particularly the unmentioned Paul Weller – Kosmos (Lynch Mob Bonus Beats) which was a great suprise 😈

Arh yes… that track…thanks Bong as mentioned long lost tracklist…10 yeah old mix…brain damaged by years of drug abuse….what was your name again?
who??
😯
The track that comes in around the 15 minute mark is “Dark Lady” by DJ Food. Haven’t finished the mix yet, so will comment later.
btw, Cass & Slide used the ‘Skip Mix’ version of Dark Lady in their Essential Mix a few years ago, and it’s a blinding track.
Figures I would have a DJ Food track in there somewhere 🙄
Quality yet again, love that Paul Weller remix, he must have been well chuffed with that 😀 😀
