Thanks HP 🙂 I had a lot of fun with this one. I was taken on a trip to somewhere else when I was mixing… just love it when that happens! Took my time with it. There was some loveliness that required great care and love… That 34 min. mark you mentioned.. well starting at 33.5 actually is a special kind of guitar freak out that is a rare thing.. “Strange – Ruler Of The Universe”. Very special. Here is a little blurb about that track taken from this site here.
“Let’s start with the title track: ‘Ruler of the Universe’, originally by Terry Brooks and Strange. It’s 15-minute hard-trippin’ semi-religious / semi-psychotic [hey, what’s the difference] guitar and space-echo-effect freak-out, pretty much tongue-in-cheek [do you new age losers really think we can communicate through telepathy with ‘people’ on the other side of the universe?]-but the LSD madness is clearly visible. We asked 2 friends, Luther Zevenbergen on sitar and Bobby Imtiaz, a mystical sufi from pakistan on tablas, to add some exotic swami / guru atmosphere.
We performed the song live only once, at a psychedelic festival in Arnhem, all dressed in white [I was wearing a ridiculous white gown that was specially made for the record sleeve, not very comfortable for drumming as the extremely wide sleeves got in the way continuously].”
Anyway, it’ san interesting story…You can read more about it going to the link above.
Well that was a superb mix all the way through Mr Greencheese and thanks for the tips m8, definitly be checking that link out. That guitar was the bollocks. cheers hp 😀 😀
The happy beepy track is part “a” of track 08: New City 16 – Song 26 quite lovely. I fell in love with it to. It’s a jolly happy song that makes you want to just skip around with a smile on your face. Just lovely! Just after the jolly beepy song you drift into some weirdness I picked up while in the gamma quadrant on vacation. Deep space always drums up music to stimulate the frontal lobe
Loved it all.Super opening section. All held me rapt.Constantly referred to the playlist.
Amazing you had the vibes bit & the squawky one in the same piece & it works!
The pairings are fascinating & successful.A bitchin’ play.
The loungey parts merely highlight the more intense parts.
Thanks for posting.
Useo8, Thanks for the lovely review. Glad you dug it! Vibes and squaks go together well if you just get them both to get along and settle thier differences I just get this amazing thrill of trying to mash up different generas into something new that actually works together, one style complimenting the other style drawing you into to yet another style. Like a journey through different countries experiencing thier different cultures and nuances and flavors… Oh, the diversity is just such a glorious thing! I can’t describe the ride I go on when I make these mixes, sheer wondermant is the only words I can use to attempt to describe. Happy Times!
