Sorry about the sound quality on a few of the tracks.I really wanted to use them.
OK – I have started the journey…. 🙂 Well, it seems most of what I like to play people ask to turn off so I just might enjoy this detour into “Inexplicable Noise” 🙂 Well, I’m at the 6 minute mark and I am loving it…. 8)
WOW!!! Ok, I listened all-the-way-thru…. Things that make you go hmmm… 😉 Overall enjoyed the experience. The rap was painful to get through, some painful moments, but there was joy in the mix as well 🙂 Nice to know there is at least one other person who listens to holger holler (an old favorite of mine – I LOVE his Japanese Peter Pan commercial from one of his albums) 😉 …and very nice to see you actually through in some nice classical to clear the pallet… I “thought” I heard ALL of the They Might Be Giants tracks.. um.. but I must have missed miniature sidewalk whirlwind.. some how I missed this one.. Loved it! dr.octagon-blue flowers UGH! ca plane pour moi.~.YES! Makes me wanna bang my head against a brick wall and throw someone across the room… Takes me back to my sex pistol loving days.. 🙂 Comfortably numb LOL!!!!!!!! Hysterical! Oh Country OH OH The PAIN.. Oh it hurts! It hurts!! “i-am-going-to-make-it-through-this-mix”… mrs.miller AUUUUUUUHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Call me weird but I LOVED jacques perry-gossipo perpetuo 🙂 Oh comn’.. someone told you to turn off Kraftwerk – Numbers? I can’t imagine!!! Eich Me Sun Sheep….. I used to always play that track at vulum 10! Guess I could not hear the complainers. Great use of The Cure – Love Cats, snuck that in the mix I see…. WOW! “50-sigue sigue sputnik-sex bomb boogie”, soo many tracks in this song! It’s like my brain has been switched onto replay.. geesh! WOW! I made it through, all the way to the last second and I must say I just loved it!!!!!!!! Well done and thanks for sharing this… I am left, wanting more! ~ Mr. Green Cheese
I’m generally very articulate with words; I can describe a mix, sound, vibe, or sexually manuever with realtive accuracy. However, Useo8 threw me off balance like Helen Keller playing Dance Dance Revolution at the arcade.
I can’t possibly begin to describe a “flow” or “vibe” for this mix. There’s energy, there’s fun, there’s absolute eclecticism — and I’m hoping that is a even a word. But above all? Every single song in this mix, as deviant and various as they are, Is mixed with utmost perfection. I mean that. This is less “Inexplicable Noise” and more “Hey, I’m a fucking cool DJ and these are my fucking hidden treasures”.
You can expect house, drum & bass, bandy-nonsense, and overall vocal ambition. What you can’t expect is where this mix will take you. Are you at a frat house, looking for a reason to drink as much as fast as you can? Are you caught in traffic with no end in sight? Or maybe your wife goes to bed at 6:30 and you need to blow out the speakers on your headphones to fullfil your midlife crisis? Does it matter? The possibilities for excuses to listen to this mix are endless — Just do yourself a favor and play it loud.
I wouldn’t say I hate everything, there are very fine moments in your songs selection (Avalanches, Orbit, Sonic youth, and Bowie of course, just to name a few).
…but the overall thing quickly get on my nerves; I listened to it all the way through anyway, asI was curious what was coming on next.
Concerning that Revolution number 9, it’s the only Beatles (Ono) song I really can’t stand, can someone explain the meaning of this repetitive experimental “thing” ? (must be some kind of art or something, but I don’t get it, but does it need an explanation in the first place ?)
But it takes balls to put a mix like this, and like Vepik wrote, the thing is well done… and the concept coherent.
Damn Dave, nice one.
Normally yes it would annoy me… but this one for some unknown reason seemed to do it for me. I mean I didn’t even turn it down once …
Hhhhmmm, I guess irony doesn’t work when typed :D. Useo, check out my smiley…
Loved this mix, great concept and some interesting choices…and I didn’t turn it off once. May leave it a while before I listen again however. thanks hp 😀 😀 😀
Hi HP-
You had me going for awhile 😆 but my first impression was that you were ‘giving me the piss’.Is that the correct phrase?
I like you much & your work very much.
It was an amusing experience.I used your comment as a quote in my gybo post.If you want me to take it off,PM me.I thought it was a smile.
I will behave in future & provide some proper beats & synth.
Vepik-I am honored to recieve such fine words associated with my piece. So articulate & direct. Thanks much!
dez-Thanks for listening.I think I got out of control during the latter half.I’m glad it aroused interest enough to perservere.
On Rev#9 I am a HUGE J.Lennon fan.I always found it interesting, but over the years I percieve it more like a found sound symphony with peaks & valleys & timing & dynamics.
I somehow return to this every so often.I really like the motion & astonishing variety.I’ve got to play it for a few & witness their reaction first-hand.Much enjoyment in that.
Mitzur@-Much appreciated. 😀
ps.-HP-I did have a similar shorter version available
only for members of the Tillytown-multiply site.
This is radically different.I admire your memory!
Sounds Good, Ref this mix though – I guess it just shows how musically misguided some people are if they were asking you to turn these songs off. Obviously everyone has various likes and dislikes in music but when the music has quality written all over it I don’t understand how they can totally dismiss it. 😕
That 2nd Avalanches Breezeblock mix has been everywhere with me, as has the Mr Scruff Breezeblock mix I have.
I often think the ‘asking me to take it off’ thing is related more to living in a farm belt, than the music itself.Maybe in the 80’s,but it’s 2007 & one hears everything on radio nowadays.
Death metal, hard trance, country…it’s all in the ads on tv.
I think novelty music is the next musical frontier.Like the Firesign Theater said,”Fun is where the fear is”. lol
a proper mix for 7 a.m. after the night of heavy drinking. a bedlam in the brain that goes well with the madness of this selection of “tunes”.
sorry for the quotation marks. i really wanted to use them. 🙂
Useo, can you post the tracklist please. You sent up a PDF file which I would need to type out by hand….
Nice idea for a mix btw
Sorry about that,Chief.Mac users’ error.

Oh fo’ sho — this thing is a one time jolly meant for an unexpected high when you least expect it (and you don’t feel like dealin’ with the fuzz).
no, i was keeping in with the theme.. but i did turn it off loads of times..lol
😉
~ That kind of review I have never done actually. This mix was special and deserved some extra attention 🙂

Ditto 🙂
Wow…….I’m lost for words. There is some awesome stuff in here, especially like the inclusions of some snippets of live dj mixes.
Nice work!
Thanks much,Tom.That means a lot coming from a talented fellow like yourself! Next month, normal beats.
