Re-presenting the first of the King Megatrip “roofers vs. records” cd’s.
Certainly made for the kids I work with – chock full of classic rock,
punk, and over the counter hip-hop. Also loaded with inside jokes and
spoken word a-plenty.
enjoy!
It’s always a pleasure to hear another KM mix! Need to add this to the pile….!!
Not what I expected to be honest, but I didn’t look at the tracklist before I downloaded this.
Wasn’t as impressed with the rock elements of the mix, but I wasn’t expecting them either so maybe it’ll grow on me. Always good to hear The Clash though.
As usual the spoken word is f’in great
yeah – this is part of a series of mixtapes I did for the kids at work – this is #1 of 3 in the “roofers vs. records” mixes.
these guys are all for hip hop, classic rock + punk (what do you call that these days? that doesn’t sound right…)
sorry you weren’t digging it – I’ll get around to bringing the funk back sooner or later…. 😆
Thanks for a great mix, bit slow to start for me but I have never been a beastie boy or usher fan. Loved it from track 13 on, especially the transistion from murphys to the clash
glad you’re liking it……
but that’s what’s hard to please people with a mix like this – it’s really over all over the map – the hip hop heads might not like the classic rock stuff, etc.
enjoy!
Its not that I’m not enjoying it, but I just didn’t expect it; I should have looked at the tracklist a bit better! You’re bang on with the comment that its hard to please everyone.
I like the different elements, and it has has grown on me now that I’ve listened to it again…just needed some time to adjust my expectations!! 😀
Thanks for pushing it! I took only a little adjustment to get into this one.Amazing how different-sounding music can be.You got us all over the place.
So glad you went with this format.I don’t hear ones like this often.
6 was one of the few tracks I didn’t know.
hey there dj useo – glad you’re liking it – I’ve got a bunch of your mixes here too – so it’s nice to hear that you like it. all the best.
Quite nice to hear! Gracias!
Xcellent mix, love the soulfunk raggae 1’s but this 1 great for Blowin cobwebs out ears whilst kitin down beach… many thanks Lookin 4ward to other “RVR”
thanks dirkelmo for bringing back a blast from the past! this was the first volume of the RVR series (roofers vs. records)… all six of the trilogy (?!) are here at bmbx.org
vol.1 Ass2Ass
vol.2 Accidents Will Happen
vol.3 Balls Deep
vol.4 The Van Bowlski Brothers
vol.5 Caveman on Campus
vol.6 Cocaine Barbecue
I’ve got ideas to do a new one by the year’s end — we’ll see though… the Soul Society mixtape schedule is kicking my ass.
all these RVR mixes were done with the kids I work with on my roofing crew as the intended audience – hence the variety of punk rock, classic rock, hip-hop and mash-ups and a real lack of funk, soul + reggae. there’s even a Cocaine Barbecue t-shirt around…
hope you enjoy… thanks for listening!
– King!
