Boombox is a mixtape sharing platform. We're a small friendly community who love sharing our passion for making and listening to mixtapes covering all kinds of music genres.

History

Boombox was created by Naz and Assorted in an IRC channel in 2000, when they decided to see who could make the better mixtape. The site had been growing since the first mixtape posts in February 2001 and had been guided by Naz through various tech upgrades and other evolutionary steps until his untimely passing in 2013.

From that point, the Boombox siteops helped keep the site running until the Wordpress front-end became too overwhelmed by spam and malware in 2020. Boombox was relaunched with a new front-end in May 2026.
