This is technically my best mix yet, with two accapellas and three decks used at one point.
It’s a latin funk & reggae mix that is quite summery (so Firestopper should like it ;)) Quite a few new tunes in this one, with my favourite producer of the moment Farm Fresh Sound System. I almost didn’t download this because of the cover, I detest the simpsons, however once I peeked at the track list I knew I needed to grabe it!, glad I did! Very tasty mix. Loved it! This track was just marvilious! > “JuJu Orchestra – This Is Not A Tango” That’s a new one for me, excellent track! “Arkestra One- Train To Machu Pichu” is an old favorite of mine. First time I heard this track I must have played it 8 times in loop. Good feeling throughout the mix, well done!

‘This is not a tango’ is possibly the JuJu’s worst track that’s how good the rest of their album is!! Totally recommend it if you like ‘Tango’ and Arkestra 1.

Beautiful and varied selection of tunes, love how you slip in and out of the more traditional latin stuff with the dubby, jazzy, funky and soulful stuff. It’s brilliantly mixed too, some really clever and subtle mixes, and keeps the flow so well which is hard when you’re mixing up these sorta styles.

Well, checked this last night and can only echo what some have said, v tight mixing – technically, you’re getting better and better – the dub be good pella, works excellently and overall a nice vibe. Not all the tunes were my cup of chai, and for me lost its way slightly in the middle (though could have been my mood 🙂 ) anyway a VERY sound job!
PS – though I like the simpsons, wasn’t convinced with the cover/title! 😀

yeah – FWIW, I’m playing out at the big chill bar in a few weeks and actually have to use the decks for the first time in a while – been getting the rustiness out of the system – it feels good 😀

I had a great time with this one.The technical aspect thrilled me & the selection was the icing on the cake.
Biggest fave was the jb remix.
A marvelous listen by my standards.
Not had time to scan the Box much recently and this was my pick when I returned today.
Cracking. The latin is much more my thing than the dub, but I was happy to weather th dub storm to get to it.
I’ll back the JuJu Orchestra recommendation.

Just to explain a bit better I don’t understand the Lesson number 5 reference.
Fair enough if you don’t think that it is mixed well enough…..I don’t agree, but it is very subjective and I totally respect that.
Taking my comment way to seriously – It’s a wee bit hard to emoticon tongue in cheek in these comments box – nothing wrong with your mixing.
The comment was more to the fact that you keep eluding to still learning the art of mixing when all’s I’m saying is your doing fine. After listening to a few of your mixes the only thing I can see thats next is a wee bit of beatmatching (longer crossovers) but was never meant to be a negative connotation. Imho I felt a couple of these tracks would have beatmatched well making the mix even better. I just felt the crossovers were a little conservative that’s all. I could almost hear the “worry” or nervousness on some of the crossovers, which will always be the case on a live mix. Sorry just he way my ears listen after 20 years of DJ’ing.
But it’s not always about the techincal aspects of the mix but sometimes just the personality of the mixer. As people keep saying each mix you do, you seem to be getting better & I will always listen to your mixes, even if I dont like the music, as I too am enjoying your progression.
But far be it for me to tell anyone how to DJ or mix – it was just an off the cuff comment that had a wink which I always thought meant “just kidding”

After listening back to this again maybe I’m being a bit too critical on you, this type of music would be hard to beatmatch for any longer periods & the “worried” crossovers were only 2 sections. I must have my periods or something.

I really appreciate constructive criticism, to me it can be more important than someone just telling you how much they liked it (which is also important).
I know what you mean about the worried crossovers, but I just couldn’t accept that they were going to work; seemed to clash too much for my liking. It might have worked, but I lost my bottle at the crucial moment!!

Most of the tunes not my cup of char either but overall the mix goes very well. I think the work with the two acapellas is excellent, must have taken you a while to sort that out? The last tune for me was great.

The acapellas I sort of stumbled across. I record the bpms and then try them against similar speed tunes…I suppose I feel lucky, or I might be getting better with regards to ‘hearing’ a tune.

Just found ” Aye Carumba” after King Megatrip highlighted Ur most recent mix… Top Quality, missed the summer n its now dark dark winter nights but feelin the heat of this one… Nice1 Dangerscouse have great 2011
