My longest mix, and full of tracks that weren’t meant to be mixed, so a few spots lack segues that I would prefer. This mix has been bumping around in my head for a few years, but didn’t really take flight until I put two mix lists together. I have been wanting to use Summer Flies by Shelleyan Orphan forever. Three of these tracks have Yukimi Nagano in common (lead singer for Little Dragon). I had to leave out some tracks that didn’t work, but the ones I really wanted to work were Everybody Wants to Be A Cat (from Aristocats) and Love Cats by the Cure. As is the case for my mixes, I can’t keep it purist, as some of these tracks have nothing to do with jazz. I hope you enjoy.
everybody wants to be a cat is one of the greatest tunes ever written ๐
Very nicely done. That Boz Scaggs’ Lowdown, Sylk 130’s The Reason, n Marvin Gaye’s รขโฌโ After the Dance mash-up is outstanding. Peace.
Thanks very much, Warvadal. I knew the Sylk 130 Reason from King Britt’s lp, and then heard the Boz Scaggs track later, so even pitched down by -9, I think the Boz track sounds better that way. They wouldn’t gel well , so I did a quick edit where the track fit in my head. The Marvin Gaye track is so unusual , it sounds a little spacey. I’ve been in this groove for my last few mixes based on my trips to the dollar bin records or Goodwill (thrift stores). Bong, The Aristocats track is so cool, as is I Wanna Be Like You from Jungle Book, top shelf jazz.
i wanna be like you..oo oo is another slab of brilliance

Cheers, Briscoe. Back in the day, me and my folks wore our shoes out bopping to that “Lowdown” track. Peace.
really enjoyed this – nice vibe and smooth flow – gonna be played a bit over the christmas period with some strong coffee ๐
Thanks Lenodd, and Merry Christmas!
