Sorry it’s been a while to post this, work has kept me too busy to do much else.
This is the unedited version (DK, Solid Steel producer thought that Five was taking genre spanning too far and cut it out… you might all agree as well!!)
Massive selection of genres, hip hop, funk, soul, pop, reggae, african and more. Took me ages to get something that I was happy with and that I could submit to Solid Steel. Not all of it is mixed, but with the selection of genres I didn’t have much choice as some of them just couldn’t be mixed for love nor money!!
heard this on solid steel – will be on the d/l for a relisten – nice to have you back mate, hope all is well in the world of scouse 🙂
Been looking forward to hearing this for a while, and it was worth the wait. Good selection of great tracks, although I must admit I had to skip the five song as people in my studio were looking at me funny!
hahaha, fair enough Mike… I knew it would be a bit hit and miss… mainly miss as well, but it’s a guilty pleasure and it did mix well at the very least.
Cheers Len, all’s good thanks mate. TBH things going so well are the reason why I haven’t been around for a while!
Just finished going through this, and had kind of mixed feelings about it, really got into it somewhere at ‘Nutbush City Limits’, that ‘Come Together’ version didn’t know but went down well (I suppose it’s hard to not like – almost – any version), but overall at the end, though liked it, felt a bit …
Maybe I need to be in the right mood…
Anyway, ‘Nutbush…’, ‘A new kind of mambo’ and Liza’s were my favs.
Thanx Stu.
In other news, how da heck are ya?
P.S. – I forgave ya for that five thing 😉
P.P.S – Those 3 I mentioned, wouldn’t happen to know where I could get’em myself, for a high quality download, would’ya ?… you know I’m all Traktor Scratch now (well, as soon as I finish moving all this stuff in digital… never imagined it would take so much time)
As it was such an eclectic mix you’re bound to not like some of it, it’s very subjective.
As for high quality, I assume you mean 256kbps and above? I’d doubt you could get any of them at that bitrate. I’ve got all three of them on variable bitrate and I don’t think any of them are over 192kbps and they might be 160kbps.
Apart from that I’m all good ta, not been around much for the past two months as i’ve changed jobs and I’m really busy. Trying to make time to listen to mixes etc again now though.
quality mix, but got to say – five? after that, it was all good
hope you havent sold the decks yet!
well in lad..
hahaha, can’t explain it mate, I just like that track. You must have some totally inexplicable tracks that sit in your record collection… maybe not as bad as that track admittedly 😉 In my head it sounds good, probably a bit like my singing in the shower and karoke
Cheers for the comments though fellas. Nah, not sold them yet, just as I’ve been about to do it I’ve changed my mind… got three more on the go at the moment, albeit really slowly.
Very enjoyable collection of songs well put together.
I even like track 5.
I listened to it during my morning sauna, it was great.
Will put it in my ipod when I go to Turkey in September
you know I love it! gave it a bit of blog love today at:

Cheers Dez and Matt, always appreciated!!
At least that’s two on my side for the five track…..anymore?!?!
I was very sceptical at first and nearly didn’t get further than Five, but it got (much) better after that.
Difficult to make a mix like this flow, but you managed it somehow. Nice samples, and a good balance of well-known and lesser-known tracks. No skiffle or dubstep though. Volume 2?
Oh, and welcome back! Good to hear that there’s more new stuff in the pipeline.
All of this Five prejudice is making me think that I should sell off my Five badge and t-shirt collection…… and not wear them out on a Saturday night. There’s gonna be a Girls Aloud track on the next mix…… might even throw in some Boyzone
Volume 2, might be a step too far judging by how long this took me to do (I think it got up to 15 attempts)
Cheers for the comments Mark, the flow was something that took some re-arranging, and I still wasn’t sure that I’d found it. Can’t see the woods for the trees in the end…
Me and my wife really enjoyed the mix..
I had no idea it was 5 until i read the track listing after listening to it.
worked well on my journey down to Yorkshire in the pissing rain lolz
nice work as usual Scouse…
*boyzone is taking it too far tho lol
I never realized how much people don’t like it when you span genres in a set until I started doing live sets.
For my money, your selection & passage through carry this mix perfectly.
It was a fun satisfying play for me,as is.
Cheers fellas and Mrs Loop……
Yeah it does seem that generally speaking people like it to be ‘samey’
Fantastic mix… keep it up!
Cheers.
Five was a highlight for me. I’ve always loved that song!
Nicely mixed too. So many genres spanned means there were a few songs not to my taste but then I like Five so who am I to pass judgement?
Great work altogether.
woo hoo, the Five fan club is growing….it was the only song that they did that was half decent though.
Always to be expected that some of them wouldn’t do it for ya. Cheers for the comments.
superb!
how the hell do you manage to get your stuff broadcasted on this fine station? *envy*
Five is up my street as well btw
nowt wrong with the Five track, to my surprise. hit and miss afterwards, but some good hits. well done for the show.
cheers fellas. it’s the only decent Five track that I know of…
Rollin after a load of blood, sweat and tears I posted a CD to DK in London and it went from there.
Ed, always likely to be hit and miss for the majority, cheers for listening.
