This is my first solo mix in ages, and so I thought I’d do something a bit different. I’ve been listening to more guitars recently than I have done in years, and so I’ve compiled a contemporary indie mix - It Is What It Was.
01. joy zipper - check out my new jesus
02. mgmt - time to pretend
03. fink - pills in my pocket
04. vampire weekend - cape cod kwassa kwassa (black dominoes remix)
05. chemical brothers - battle scars (beyonD the wizard’s sleeve remix)
06. death from above 1979 - black history month (alan braxon & fred falke remix)
07. radio 4 - state of alert (edit)
08. mother & the addicts - watch the lines
09. santogold - say ah
10. midlake - roscoe
11. get cape wear cape fly - waiting for the monster
to drown (shoes remix)
12. andrew weatheral - feathers
13. the whip - trash
14. mlle caro & franck garcia - dead souls
15. yeasayer - 2080
16. caribou - melody day (fourtet remix)
enjoyed this mark - you know i dont normally go in for fey sounding indie kids, but you handled it with aplomb and pulled it off - sounding tight as pair of skinny jeans
I was in the bath when the indie bit was on “loud” so didn’t really pay much attention to detail, when the latter half of the mix crept in i was dancing about in my towel… me kids liked it too…
Mark? Indie? whatever next? I’ll be expecting that Wedding Present vs. Ivor Cutler conceptual cut-up you’ve always been threatening. Right, i’m off to burn all my Razorlight CDs.
Nice mix as well!
Great stuff Mr. Lovely, really enjoyed listening to that this morning! It was the first item on my playlist for today and I suspect it’ll creep on there again before the week is out!
Thanks all for the kind words - I wasn’t sure how this mix would go down, but it’s good to see that there’s plenty of other old indie kids out there, and plenty of new sounds to enjoy. Cheers.
well, i do normally go in for fey sounding indie kids and offer no apologies for doing so - this mix was brilliant totally has me ignoring everything else on my IPOD.
swamp : well, play iz 26 & feed iz 4. so thats deffo 30
matrix : back to zero... let's just assume only 1000 of those downloads were real hehe
matrix : no idea where the links to my mix are coming from... so i've renamed the mix
Der DiskothekerTM : Thanx bong!
bong : corrected
Der DiskothekerTM : dear ops, there is a mistake in the artists list of My House Is Built Of Rock.: the name is Alan Vega, not Aöan ... big thanks if you could correct it
AbeTwist : Still it looks cool, 1215 dl's Hate the fact that MJ's dead by the way, came as sort of a shock
matrix : not guilty, m'lord.
Ken Masters : Michael Jackson RIP
swamp : itz not d/ls. theres bin a direct link posted somewheres, mayb several. so peeps iz klikin on the link repeatedly cos it wont werk. in reality, itz prob around the 50 d/l mark
Der DiskothekerTM : this is more than a hit, this is a miracle: more tham 1.000 downloads in a day on matrix' actual mix!
AbeTwist : wow, that was a fast upload!
swamp : ...promises, promises...
wyse : @Warvadal I've got a tracklist somewhere. I'll find it and upload.
bong : i think the recent database problems caused a flux with people not being able to view the site properly, which in turn would probably have had a knock on effect with the lack of downloads experienced for that 2 week period.. the rest? who knows!
ambientfusion : new mix in the works... been a while. hopefully have it uploaded soon.
Der DiskothekerTM : The box remains mysterious to me. Sometimes a mix runs to some hundreds of downloads in ten days, sometimes it's only a slow dropping even though there is no difference in quality. I'm participating since more than one year now and still don't understand how it works... Nevertheless big thanks to all the mixers who make me puzzle about this question!
Warvadal : @Mr. Wyse. I see you have a mix upload. Do you have a cover and/or tradklist to go with it? I will wait to post it until I hear from you. Peace.
bong : cheers for the fixes naz.. bmbx works great again.. Hurrah!
naz : welcome back
ihou : A Soulful house mix back from 2007 coming on it's way Cheers Mates!
matrix : will do
Boogie Maggoo : If it's not too difficult could you update my mix with the new version? Thx
bong : fair to middlin' thanks useo
useo8 : lo all how ya been?
bong : nice one
shiningsteve : cheers for the tip bong, sent them a mix, should be up there soon
bong : hello all.. just a message to say that the internet radio station, dance biscuit, are wondering if anyone here would like to get involved within their schedule. here's the thread.. «link» don't miss out
bong : well in Max..
Max : Hey guys! Still enjoying the tapes for four years now! Keep it up!
Warvadal : @DJtec. I had some problems with your back cover. Had to resize it (too big). + I don't know if that's the way you wanted it to look (sideways), but that's how it was uploaded. Let me know. I'm out of town until sunday. Peace.
bong : oo ooo ooo ooo.rrrrrrrrrrrr e
dj readybreak : Cheers for the upload peeps, enjoy!
bong : cheers for the headsup
bong : ok. the mix is now vepiks but the comments are still wrong.. will try and see if this can be rectified

I love Joy Zipper, and MGMT, so this mix got off to a great start with me, much of the rest was unfamiliar but equally enjoyable, well done!

not a massive fan of modern indie music but this worked a treat for a soundtrack for a well rowdy day
