Done this a couple of months ago now, but it wasn’t posted for one reason or another.
This is possibly one of my favourite mixes, and it broadly follows a funk/soul/hiphop line with some ‘curveballs’ thrown in for god measure.
The observant ones amongst us will notice that I’ve used the Ohmega Watts and Aim mix again… it went so well with the ‘Jack & Diane’ that I had to include it.
Cheers fellas… comments from you lot are always appreciated!!!
Bong, heard that Pigmeat track on the Bentley Rhythm Ace FSUK 3 mix (still THE best mix I’ve ever heard, miles better than Coldcut’s JDJ imo, and it’s a double disc), and just had to get it…
Have you heard the B.R.A. mix? I’m not saying that the Coldcut mix is bad, far from it, but the B.R.A. mix takes it to another level with so many genres packed in it’s head and shoulders above the rest imo…
Had this on repeat on a drive down to Bristol, really good mix and loved every track (especially the first one), could even be as good as your belts and braces mix which is one of my favs.
May have to find that BRA mix, haven’t heard any of their stuff for ages.
The Outlines album is well worth a listen, ‘Now That I’m Free’ might be the best, but there are some other really good tracks on there as well.
The BRA mix doesn’t have any of their tracks but it does have everything from DJ Zinc to Betty Boo to Ballistic Brothers…..seriously it covers almost every genre that you could be bothered to mix with.
I’ve just made a hiphop heavy mix that I’m hoping to post once the finishing touches are done.
This reminds me of it, but is soo soo much better.
Loved it.
That surprises me Matt that you don’t like Outlines….I really like that track, assumed that you would to as well.
I’m not being disrespectful regarding the Coldcut JDJ it’s one of the best mixes ever, but the BRA mix is better, and is head and shoulders above anything I’ve ever heard before or since; it totally stands alone imo. Have you heard the BRA mix? If you haven’t, have a listen and then we’ll have a chat….I’m confident that you’ll get my point!!

nice one stu – the jack and diane bit was my favourite! tightly mixed and full of funk as ever – don’t sell them decks!
hate to disagree, but coldcut’s mix tore up the rulebook on mixes – its some seminal shit you’re dissin there!
Have you heard the B.R.A. mix? I’m not saying that the Coldcut mix is bad, far from it, but the B.R.A. mix takes it to another level with so many genres packed in it’s head and shoulders above the rest imo…
Cheers for the comment as well mate…
i have bad memories of BRA – they own the rainbow in brum now don’t they?
Erm…not sure tbh mate. The tunes they did were very average at best, but the FSUK mix is nothing like their productions

Just to clarify, when i said it’s much better. I meant your mix is better than mine. Don’t want you thinking I’m an arrogant prick or anything.
Mine’s pretty good tho. 😉
Cheers FP , never thought for a second that you were being arrogant mate, not something that you’d do imo….
I’m also sure that yours is boss 😉
another good mix (that I’m just getting around to for the first time now)…
wasn’t too keen on your first track but all in all another keeper…
blog love at: http://megatrip.blogspot.com/
but only if you take back your disrespectful comments about Coldcut’s JDJ…
ok mister – put ’em up…!
