———————————
Here’s the real deal when it comes to Classic Rock.
Note the extra emphasis on the instrumental solos.
I only chose tracks that were over eight minutes to start with & some were as long as twenty & thirty minutes.
No matter your stand on rock, these artists sold tons of records. (& many were extremely hairy!)

Classic rock indeed Senor Useo. 🙂
*waaaay too much use of the word “rock” there maybe?*

In this case too much rock is just right!

It’s a family affair with this one. Mother, Father, Sister, Brother with something for everyone. I have a project coming up, and this great mix has lent me tons of inspiration , thanks. My top cuts: ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND-whipping post, CHAMBERS BROTHERS-time has come today, & STEVIE RAY VAUGN & DOUBLE TROUBLE-voodoo child. Keep rockin’. Peace.
Enjoyed this. Some great instrumentals selected, and greatly assisted by the live feel to it. Nice one.
The obvious problem is that part of the immense pleasure of the instrumentals is their juxtaposition with whatever music goes before it or after it, or in the slow cranking up of a hypnotic state as you are listening. So, picking all the climaxes/best bits out of their framework doesn’t unfortunately add up to an entire mix of ecstacy (it would be impossible).
I find the same goes for some tracks lifted out of their context on an album. “Bring It On Home” is such a perfect ending to Led Zeppelin 2, but it just doesn’t sound the same if you haven’t listened to the entire album before it.
Anyway, I’m just rambling – it’s a good mix!
