Hope this makes you sing a long…
There’s Ska, funk reggae and world mixed together hopefully for your happy ears.
I don’t really have much time for mixing at the moment, so do not pay too much attention if there are some harsh transitions, I did my best (we are moving from one tiny appartment to a giant house, it’s time consuming as you may assume).
Anyway, I am still listening and buying lots of tunes, and this month’s mixtape reflects exactly the general mood of what’s entering in my ears (not my rear), hope it will make you happy as much as me, I really happen to like those 17 songs.
dEZ
I took the liberty of editing Toots’ prison number for you… that’s a great track. I’ll be on this soon.
dEZ I LOVE your mixes usually but this looks top draw… some absolute classics in there.
Good stuff dEZ, not sure for the first ten minutes then I got well into it. Very “up” mix (and Shantel is a beauty). ta hp 🙂
Great mix, I really loved those latin tracks at the beginning and some other really great tracks throughout the mix and lots I’ve never heard before which is always a treat.
cooked a nice mother’s day dinner to this mix…
Ola !
Next mix already on its way, it’ll be Classical music . . . (I want to use a lot of unknown tunes, but my knowledge is limited :>)
If you have the opportunity, try to watch “The Triplettes from Belleville”, an amazing cartoon.
I remember listening to Talking Head’s “77” back in the 80ies on a tape I bought in Italy and the track included here was my favourite, that’s why I think Vampire Week-end are great, because they remind me of Talking Heads (with Rondo Veneziano and Paul Simon as well).
I just love the second part of the Caetano Veloso song, first time I heard it, it took me by surprise and I had to put it on several times in a row.
There was a Kinks song originaly included, but I had to take it off beacuse it didn’t quite fit well in there. It’ll be for a future mix. The more I listen to The Kinks, the more I love this band.
And, last, Amparanoia is one of my favourite spanish bands, saw them live 3 times and it was always such a great party time, very recommended.
dEZ.
Ps : if you like those funky tracks included, try to get a copy of “miami sound – rare funk & soul from miami”, this is a real treat (worth the money it cost).
Yeah, Talking Heads! Long time not heared. And all the other great tunes, with Toots, Shantel and those I don’t know… Really uplifting. Thanks for that dEZ. Enjoy the space you now have in your new house. Good luck. I’m waiting for the classical one… Cheers!
Forgot to say I adore the felicitous interlude. And I love No No No, the best I-don’t-love-you-song I can imagine.
Every bit as good as I hoped it would be. Every single tune was boss.
For me, I think it was the Joseph Henry track that was the best… funky as a funky thing.
hey dez — I enjoyed this one… (you can see how far behind I am here…!)
good selections and made for nice listening while undertaking some other online projects yesterday. thanks.
I’ll give it a shout on my blog…
