the memory’s stir, deep, lost, of a hot sweaty club fill will other mad young people shaking their asses, blowing their whistles, reaching for the roof, and fucking out there somewhere beyond the stars.
total class time in my life, never to be forgotten, and all thanks goes to you big man for helping to put some wicked tunes back into their rightful place… MY HEAD.

Absolutely stunning gurntastic mix, get working on Vol 4, 5 & 6 as well 😉
I’ve always said that a great house mix brings back memories of my clubbing days… this had me from start to finish. Shame it was so short… it should be at least 24 hours long 😉
Tremendous listen this. Thanks for going there.Nawt else but praise for this.
Cover art is finestkind,as well.
I pass this one with flying colours, lol!
I managed to track down a pic of the old membership cards for the Rhumba club and used that for the cover… think i’ll get part 3 up in a couple of months…:)
This reminded so much of a tape i had from a club in southport that used to rock out these tunes. All classics, all reminding me of sweaty grinning nights out with lots of people i didnt know, all of whom became my mates.
Loved this as well. Really takes you back. Some great tunes on here – they all sound so quiet compared to music these days.
Well mixed an all.
Reminded me of listening to the old 808 State radio show on Sunset when I was growing up. Hadn’t thought about that in about 10 years so I got nostalgic and asked the universe for some help: http://www.808state.com/sounds/808djs.htm
I had a mixtape of Andy Weatherall back then that I almost wore out and this sounds akin to that.
Don’t Fight It Feel It has the best piano riff in house. Period. (Apart from Strings of Life :))
Keep these coming BPS, they’re spot on.
I had the tape as well… and was at the night he played at Fatties …plenty of Airhorns and he finished with Don’t Fight it Feel it and with Mr Weatherall shouting “This is for the best fucking club in Britain”…… rush central…
excellent mix of the best early sounds of house
wow, i really enjoyed the work sunbather!
please if you got some more of the same it would be great to check out,
nice one!
Some top tunes in there. Anyone come to The Citrus Club when The Rhumba came to town?
Weatherall topped the Bill…
Yours truly was there… there used to be a couple of busloads coming from Dundee and Perth goin thru to the Citrus… went to the 1st one When Steve Bicknell played… what a night… is the Citrus still open…???
Just listened to your mix while sitting here in saudi arabia, hairs on the back of my neck upright just as they used to standing in Fatty’s, Roxxanes, the Citrus, Balley’s. Flicks and Ice factory. I Loved Balley’s the best. Some of the best times of my life in that place. It was a time when people, music and chemicals became one!
God Bless you Rhumba Club
