This one is conceived as the follow up to “Matrix Mix 43 – Underworld”. Familiar dark ambient themes, but with melody gradually breaking through the ominous overtones. Madness and nightmare in the original mix were characterised by a layering of dark tracks that appear only briefly and have little melody to attach oneself to (the inability of the unsound mind to focus). As we try to escape, some tracks start to establish themselves for longer periods and the music brings more variety, but madness still does not seem very far away. Even Bjork’s apparently optimistic message seems to have a threatening hum of machinery in the background. Towards the end of our journey, it seems that we have broken out… but what is the name of the band that produces the soothing penultimate track?
By the way, I included the Hardfloor and Roxy Music juxtapostion again not just because I think it fits well as a breakaway from the dark stuff, but also because I think it is the best merging of two tracks in parallel that I’ve ever come up with. No big skills, just two tracks playing exactly at the same time and seeming to fit perfectly. This was hidden away on a relatively unappreciated mix a couple of years ago.
Yeah,it was very strong. So many great tracks merged with eloquence.Only a couple I didn’t know.
Great work keeping it mellow & also interesting.
I also liked the 3-tier cover.
Matrix – epic sounds dude!
Another excellent soundtrack for anything creative – you can loose yourself in here…
…and the Hardfloor and Roxy Music mashup works extremely well – I love reggae re-rubs – I’ve collected a load recently and that stands pretty high with the best of them 😉
An excellent escape. A total package… Covers, tracklist, and sounds. My favorites are Tojo Told Hitler, Wormhole, Never Say, and Paris Texas. Very well done.
My family hate me for Neon Bible. It’s a great album by Arcade Fire, but that song just worms its way into your head and doesn’t go away.
Business Man is a pseudonym of Trentemoller. I had been looking for that Chris Isaak rerub for a while, but in the end I just cut it out of the Trentemoller essential mix from 2006 (an excellent listen by the way).

chilled mix. the klf track “pluto” is by Space (a jimmy cauty solo project) and yer right, the roxy/hardfloor mashup is wonderful…
Your mix put me in extremely productive dark mood, wherein I invented a couple of new suicidal methods (special one while the Orb was playing…)
