I know that it’s still winter (at least it is here in England), but hopefully this should make you feel a bit more summery.
Some old, new and classics in the mix… with a little bit of artistic licence on a couple of mixes i.e. they’re a bit bumpy, but most of it went well considering that it’s reggae and it’s hard as fuck to mix at times.
Great Mix! good to hear some old and new tracks on the same mix as well. Going to have to take it home for another listen as my speaker at work don’t do the bass justice!
Cheers fellas! This one of my favourite mixes that I’ve done, just because of the strength of the tunes… some are in my desert island disc collection for sure.
Matt, hope you don’t put too much herb in your dinner ๐
Matt, cheers for the blog post good music should always be shared…
That’s See I – The King (Magic Fly Remix)… one of my current favourite tracks, and it sparked this mix off. I’ve contacted Rob (Magic Fly) on myspace and he’s sent me a load of his tunes… all of them are boss! But to be fair ‘The King’ remix is exceptional. No idea what the original is like tbh.
No probs mate, I’m having issues in listening to mixes at the moment as well…
Cheers Ed, that Alpha Blondy track is also another fav of mine, makes me stop what I’m doing and listen everytime I hear it… bit of an issue when I’m on the M6 ๐
Cheers R.D.!! The last third or so is more upbeat than the rest but still reggae based tunes.
My other mixes are a real variety, breaks, funk, soul, hiphop, latin, D&B, house, rock and reggae, if that’s your bag then i’d love to hear your comments…
Cheers HP, I was happy with the way it went, with a bit of thought, and lots of luck it seemed to slot into place with the tunes that I picked. Took my time in selecting these tunes as well based on the slight similarities.
Cheers Deecus, that’s a b-side to ‘Big Big Disgrace’ which is equally as good, bit more uptempo though but still quite similar… I think I’ve got it in another mix that I did.
Finally on this one… Only 25 mins in and loving the vibes, currently winding down from an 11 hour night shift so this is really doing the trick! ๐
Loving that Chosen Few track especially! Will say more in 40ish mins time… ๐
Cool stuff Stu, almost a mix of 2 halves really. The first half being the more traditional stuff and the second being the more produced sound. Really liked the last track and the one prior to that is another old favourite. I seem to remember another version (I think) of it in a Lemon Jelly mix…
…although Bong, RB and FS will probably be able to identify if its the same version better than me off of the top of their heads.
Anyway, as always a thoroughly enjoyable listen, especially given the aforementioned situation.
Nice work, looking forward to this next eclectic mix! ๐
1 ov them lightweights? ^^^ dont think so, hehehe. yup, yr rite tom, fred played funky kingston in “big chill winter festival” but i believe the same version
Nice 1 Swampster. Have you been on the green stuff aaaagain Bong??!! ๐
Nice one Stu, not entirely sure about the Marilyn Monroe mix but I’ll certainly give it a go…
“…and now I play the waiting game.” – just not in the same sense as a tampon…
Being going through my mix archive and forgot how much of a gem this one is, made my journey to London the weekend bearable even though the tube was a nightmare! So many good tracks but that BB Seaton track I can’t get enough of.
I reckon it could be on mine as well, I’m going to have a look for more of his stuff if it’s anything like that track then it will no doubt be worth it.
This was the mix that hooked me as a bmbx listener. Fantastic throughout, but as others have mentioned above, kicking off with one of the best covers of all time really sets the mood + expectations.

loving the tune at 52 mins – like disco reggae is the best way to describe it – what is it?!
second half did it for me – good stuff mate ๐

I’ve been meaning to get on this but I was away for a bit of last week…
…Looks really good Stu, will try and have a good listen a.s.a.p! ๐
Tasty stuff indeed. Cracking opener too, grabs you by the wotsits to set you up straight away.
No probs mate, I’m having issues in listening to mixes at the moment as well…
Cheers Ed, that Alpha Blondy track is also another fav of mine, makes me stop what I’m doing and listen everytime I hear it… bit of an issue when I’m on the M6 ๐
This is great shit. Love it! Only halfway through and can’t wait to hear more. I’ll have to get all your mixes now.
Cheers R.D.!! The last third or so is more upbeat than the rest but still reggae based tunes.
My other mixes are a real variety, breaks, funk, soul, hiphop, latin, D&B, house, rock and reggae, if that’s your bag then i’d love to hear your comments…
Rock solid stuff as usual…
Cheers Boog!
Sweet. Lovely job scouse, very well blended considering how tricky reggie and the like can be to mix, cheers hp ๐
Cheers HP, I was happy with the way it went, with a bit of thought, and lots of luck it seemed to slot into place with the tunes that I picked. Took my time in selecting these tunes as well based on the slight similarities.
Feelin that Glideascope tune, dub, dub with the strings and ting – nice work!!!!
Cheers Deecus, that’s a b-side to ‘Big Big Disgrace’ which is equally as good, bit more uptempo though but still quite similar… I think I’ve got it in another mix that I did.

lemon what?
Cheers Tom… next one should be up tomorrow. It’s actually mainly hiphop/funk/soul with some surprises in there.
Three more really eclectic mixes to come soon… everything from a TV show theme tune, funk, hiphop, Afrobeat, Jazz, and a Marilyn Monroe remix!
I reckon you’ll be pleasantly surprised Tom…
Being going through my mix archive and forgot how much of a gem this one is, made my journey to London the weekend bearable even though the tube was a nightmare! So many good tracks but that BB Seaton track I can’t get enough of.
Ta Mike!! ‘Hold On’ is a mind-blowing track and probably on my desert island disc list… give me spine tingles every time I hear it……
gotta few of his tracks that are also boss, but for some daft reason never got round to buying, or looking for, an album.
I reckon it could be on mine as well, I’m going to have a look for more of his stuff if it’s anything like that track then it will no doubt be worth it.
