oh my… Billy Jean was kind of painful… anti-morisee… LOL! what a wacky mix! I’m not sure what to think about these remakes. The real scary thing is that I listened to the whole mix 8-0 (well, I did fast forward through “your song”). Loved the Viva Las Vegas track 🙂 “20th century boy” was yummy. Pat Boone… ugh… In a strange way, I enjoyed this mix 🙂
Cheers Mr Green Cheese, i’ve got a thing about odd covers, i’m glad you enjoyed it, especialy in a strange way!
viva las vegas is one of my fave covers
Thanks, I liked it. Quirky.
cheers for the comments peep, always apreciated! 🙂
I found it very stimulating.
I’d play it again.Lots of stimulous in a new vein.Novelty is the new punk.
It really irks people.
I just posted a new Halloween cutup,& it really got under some skin! Lol!
Thanks for going there with this one.
I regard tracks like these as being very rare,in that not many will hear them.
Great cover,front & back.
I love Shinehead’s version of Billie Jean, better than the original imo. I listened to this all the way through except for Angie which I had to fast forward, it was too painful. MacGregor’s Your Song, though, cracks me up – the bit where he sings “you see I’ve forgotten, if they’re… GREEN OR THEY’RE BLUE!” is hysterical. Otherwise, the Nick Cave, Dead Kennedys, Placebo, Otis Redding and Captain Tractor tracks are great, Mr. Brightside sounds better played by a string quartet, This Charming Man is too close to the original to be interesting, and those versions of Girlfriend In A Coma and Love Will Tear Us Apart I hope I never hear again!
After listening to this mix, I put on BBC 6Music and they were playing T.Rex “20th Century Boy” – now they’re playing The Smiths “Girlfriend In A Coma”!
ooooo spooky!
glad you enjoyed the majority of the tracks, if i don’t get a couple of tracks someone detests i dont think i have succeeded in being individual, so thank you! lol
@useo8-thanks for your kind word, i feel the same, someone has to push those buttons, why not me?! 🙂
Interesting how the painful tracks vary from person to person. I liked the Joy Division cover and hated the Nick Cave track. Couldn’t bring myself to listen to MacGregor; he irritates the hell out of me (remember when he was being touted as a possible next James Bond ???! ffs!).
Well, some of this was hard work which I got the sense this is what you were after… it worked 😉 Ewan Macgregor as Steve points out is hilarious. How was he let into a studio?? And the Sterophonics are easy targets but I can’t see the point really. Sandman is not Pat Boone’s greatest cover but still one of the best here. thanks for posting cheers hp 🙂
cheers for the comments. its so interesting to see polarized views to this mix (or parts thereof). i just like to be able to put sets of songs out there that wouldnt normally get heard together. 🙂
