1. Love unlimited orchestra – I did it for love
2. Cerrone – Hooked on you
3. P funk all stars – Hydraulic pump pt3
4. Martin circus - Disco circus (francois k edit)
5. Bohannon – Let’s start the dance pt 3 (FK instrumental)
6. MFSB – Love is the message (Danny Krivit re edit)
7. Wood, brass and steel – Funkanova (original album version)
8. Henderson and Whitfield - Dancin’ to the beat
9. Mann Friday - Love honey, love heartache (12” vocal version)
10. Alexander Robotnik – Problemes d’amour
11. Daft Punk – Voyager
12. John Gibbs - Get down with the jam band (Joey Negro re-edit)
13. The Salsoul orchestra – Magic bird of fire
14. Don Ray - Standing in the rain
15. Sweet potato - Hot disco night
16. Teddy Pendergrass - You can’t hide from yourself
17. Inner Life - Ain’t no mountain high enough (The garage version)
Fantastic mix, I was thinking of putting one of these together for my own enjoyment but it would be more mainstream than this i.e funk hits from the 80s. Thanks for opening my ears to some great tunes. That opening track is gorgeous. cheers hp
Hydraulic pump is a killer track - sampled by fix ‘flash’ - fuckin’ love it!
Also apologies everyone for sticking on daft punk ‘voyager’ again - it fitted and I can’t get enough of it
Thanks Briscoe - appreciated!
This was a combo of blog digging and my collection of disco stuff at home - you’re right though - these have been caned sample wise - some good comps to check are jumpin’ vols 1 and 2 and the sampled series.
cheers mate!
love a bit of disco me - gets a bad rep, but we know that you got to get down to the groove
ps bong - the other tune you were digging is mfsb - sampled by busta rhymes ‘everybody come on’ i think amongst others - tune!
Smoothly put together and some good tunage. Reminds me in style of some of those Dimitri from Paris compilations. The current Mrs Edward will like this mix I reckon.
I had one of those wierd “hearing the original sample for the first time” moments with the track that was used in Flash Fix. (Like when you hear him say “We are the music makers, we are the dreamers of the dreams” in Charlie and The Chocolate Factory). Anyway, I digress. Nice stuff as always. I’ve no idea how you crank them out so regularly while still keeping the quality up.
Disco isn’t a genre that I’d usually search out, BUT I do generally enjoy it when I hear it and there is quite a lot of disco that is like uptempo soul, and that’s always gonna be a good thing.
Overall I enjoyed it, preferred the chunky funky disco tunes but all of the tunes were good.
Hi Len,
This has been in my headphones for the last two weeks! It’s been keeping me upbeat while the day job has gone oh-so manic! As always great selection - Have always loved the ‘leopard skin’ Danny Krivit’s Love is the message. But a lot here that’s new. Cheers again - I love my boogie bass sounds!
Another keeper! I can see I’m going have to increase my hard drive with all the quality about!
Cheers SAT - nice one for the vibes - danny krivit is the man! I’ve just exported all my mixes to the external 250gb drive - got a bit of room to play with now.
Soz Len, thought I had commented on this one - but obviously I hadn’t.
Well, gave this one a blast the other day and it certainly lifted the gloomy clouds over Devizes. Have to admit, I’m a sucker for disco so this went down a treat!
There were a few tracks (P-Funk especially) which I have heard in other mixes but never been able to establish who they were by so that was cool. Its also good to hear where a lot of the samples used in house music today originated from and I find that often the originals are best.
All in all a fluent and highly dance able mix. Thanks!
G’day!!!! Cause we’re so far behind down under, stuck in the c19th, you won’t believe this - but this is the first time that I’ve downloaded music that’s not Thomas the tank/Bob the Builder and hey I LOVED IT!!!!
swamp : well, play iz 26 & feed iz 4. so thats deffo 30
matrix : back to zero... let's just assume only 1000 of those downloads were real hehe
matrix : no idea where the links to my mix are coming from... so i've renamed the mix
Der DiskothekerTM : Thanx bong!
bong : corrected
Der DiskothekerTM : dear ops, there is a mistake in the artists list of My House Is Built Of Rock.: the name is Alan Vega, not Aöan ... big thanks if you could correct it
AbeTwist : Still it looks cool, 1215 dl's Hate the fact that MJ's dead by the way, came as sort of a shock
matrix : not guilty, m'lord.
Ken Masters : Michael Jackson RIP
swamp : itz not d/ls. theres bin a direct link posted somewheres, mayb several. so peeps iz klikin on the link repeatedly cos it wont werk. in reality, itz prob around the 50 d/l mark
Der DiskothekerTM : this is more than a hit, this is a miracle: more tham 1.000 downloads in a day on matrix' actual mix!
AbeTwist : wow, that was a fast upload!
swamp : ...promises, promises...
wyse : @Warvadal I've got a tracklist somewhere. I'll find it and upload.
bong : i think the recent database problems caused a flux with people not being able to view the site properly, which in turn would probably have had a knock on effect with the lack of downloads experienced for that 2 week period.. the rest? who knows!
ambientfusion : new mix in the works... been a while. hopefully have it uploaded soon.
Der DiskothekerTM : The box remains mysterious to me. Sometimes a mix runs to some hundreds of downloads in ten days, sometimes it's only a slow dropping even though there is no difference in quality. I'm participating since more than one year now and still don't understand how it works... Nevertheless big thanks to all the mixers who make me puzzle about this question!
Warvadal : @Mr. Wyse. I see you have a mix upload. Do you have a cover and/or tradklist to go with it? I will wait to post it until I hear from you. Peace.
bong : cheers for the fixes naz.. bmbx works great again.. Hurrah!
naz : welcome back
ihou : A Soulful house mix back from 2007 coming on it's way Cheers Mates!
matrix : will do
Boogie Maggoo : If it's not too difficult could you update my mix with the new version? Thx
bong : fair to middlin' thanks useo
useo8 : lo all how ya been?
bong : nice one
shiningsteve : cheers for the tip bong, sent them a mix, should be up there soon
bong : hello all.. just a message to say that the internet radio station, dance biscuit, are wondering if anyone here would like to get involved within their schedule. here's the thread.. «link» don't miss out
bong : well in Max..
Max : Hey guys! Still enjoying the tapes for four years now! Keep it up!
Warvadal : @DJtec. I had some problems with your back cover. Had to resize it (too big). + I don't know if that's the way you wanted it to look (sideways), but that's how it was uploaded. Let me know. I'm out of town until sunday. Peace.
bong : oo ooo ooo ooo.rrrrrrrrrrrr e
dj readybreak : Cheers for the upload peeps, enjoy!
bong : cheers for the headsup
bong : ok. the mix is now vepiks but the comments are still wrong.. will try and see if this can be rectified

Wasn’t really in the disco mood this afternoon, but the salsoul orchestra sucked me in, and I’m glad it did.
This really lifted my afternoon.

You’ve got more genres than Waterstones!
Smoothly put together and some good tunage. Reminds me in style of some of those Dimitri from Paris compilations. The current Mrs Edward will like this mix I reckon.

haha - my record library was taking on waterstones sized proportions at one point!
cheers ed, glad you liked the mix - it was a long standing ambition to do something like this and i’m dead pleased with how it turned out.
November 3rd, 2007 at 12:26 pm
Sorry for the delay giving you props for this one, but I’ve been stuck inside a glitter ball.
Absolutely awesome mix mate, and I can’t take the all credit for the title - I think it’s from an old Robert Wyatt lyric.
November 3rd, 2007 at 12:29 pm
shouldnt you be on holiday?
nice one mate - see you in the week hopefully!
November 5th, 2007 at 10:44 pm
