15. The Commodores – The Assembly Line

17. Finlay Quaye – Even After All
Nice mix, wasn’t sure what to expect from such a diverse listing, but it held together well. I wasn’t a fan of The Good Bad & Queen but the lead track works better here than on the album!
Never a bad thing to hear a bit of Roxy, and it’s a fine Femi dub. I’m still in two minds about the Beasties new jazzfunk direction though, even after seeing them last week (when the rest of their set blew me away) but their tracks work well in this context.
Well mixed and good track selection – can’t say fairer than that 8)
Cheers, comments always welcome!
I like the Beasties album…I chose these two tracks but it could have been some of the others. I quite like the Matisyahu album as well, though the songs would never have fitted in this mix, which is why the 40 second stretch of drums is all I used to flow into The Doors.
About half of my mixes end up fairly eclectic simply because for them I’m just storing away bits and pieces as I listen to a lot of varied stuff. Then it’s a matter of moulding the mix when there’s enough critical mass.
Firestopper: completely agree about the CCR and Mavis Staples tracks.
halfway through and liking very much, esp liked secret machines and looking forward to femi kuti.
i plugged you in my blog (http://www.rionegro.com.ar/blog/muslo/index.php) mr matrix. hope that’s ok. well, truth be told, i plugged the whole of b00mb0x, but singled out a few of your mixes which i love.
I enjoyed it much.Especially the instr tracks.Didn’t know 13,but liked much. Was surprised I liked the commodores.
Very nice sound to the piece.I sure love the doors.I used to hate classic rock.It won me over.
well executed and put together mix, just not up my musical street i’m afraid – there’s a few tracks i was into, but i’m not super down with some of the guitar wielding fare on offer – no reflection on your skillz or taste sir! 🙂
