Wasn’t sure whether to post this one or another hiphop/funk/soul mix, decided on this one in the end.
This is another party breaks mix, similar in style to ‘Party Animal’ with a few surprises as you can see from the tracklist. I’ve also included Brothers Bud and Sacha Dieu again just because they fitted the ‘ska’ feel to the mix near the end.
Mixed live in one take on my trusty ones and twos.
1. Sugarhill Suite – Voicemail (Steinski & Double Dee Remix)
2. Cash Money & Marvellous – The Mighty Hard Rocker
3. Mamaluke – The Pant (Beatphreak Remix)
4. Queen – Another One Bites The Dust
5. Pierre Henry – Psyche Rock (Fatboy Slim Malpaso Remix)
6. Stockholm Cyclo – Top Celebrities
7. Deela – Azua Azua (Latin Funk Remix)
8. Neighbour – How Much FeelinΓ’β¬β’
9. Ram Jam – Black Betty
10. All Good Funk Alliance – Sock It To Ya
11. Wax Romeo – Hair Of The Dog
12. Featurecast – Go With My Flow
13. Smoove – Man With Two Watches
14. Malente – Ska Wars
15. Beatfanatic – Disco Skank
16. Farm Fresh Sound System – Coconut Ska
17. Sacha Dieu – Phoenix City
18. Brothers Bud v Z2 – Herbgrinder
19. Scanty Sandwich – Because Of You
Nice work as ever with some tight live mixing and some fresh sounding breaks.
Loved the Steinski intro (I don’t think Double Dee was involved on this occasion). Also enjoyed the latino flute funk sound of whatever was playing around the 26 min mark (Deela?).
But the skanked out final 20 mins was my fave, the Scanty Sandwich was a great way to finish a tasty meal.
You don’t need Reason or Logic – get Ableton π A stripped down version (Live LE http://www.ableton.com/live-le) has just been released for about ΓΒ£100. Make the leap – jump Dangerscouse jump!
But then if I could mix like you then I wouldn’t need Ableton
ha ha ha, I enjoy the pain and joy of mixing too much to use Ableton or anything similar.
Check out the emerging site http://www.gigacrate.com for that Deela track. It’s getting better slowly but surely as the catalogue grows. It’s run by DJ’s and gives you a list of tunes that have a similar bpm range; if only all mp3 sites were this good!
Top stuff. Funky, fun and well put together. (Although Black Betty has always chapped my ass!). One of my favourites of the Dangerscouse canon I think.
I’m always amazed at the quality of execution of your mixes knowing that they’re usually done live and in one take.
As above really Stu, top mix, loved the way you dropped ‘Another one bites the dust’ and ‘black betty’.
The mix has a great flow from start to finish and would no doubt tear up any dance floor!
One of my DS fave’s π

Some top gear here! π―
Thoroughly enjoyed this mix. A great mix of genre and some sweet mixes. Anyone who drops Queen is hot in my books!
Yeah nice, loved the ska(ish) ending and the segue into Pierre Henry was v nice, cheers hp π π
Listened to it last night and fell in love,
I Searched and Enjoyed..
Good job… β
Cheers all, much appreciated!
The Queen & Pierre Henry mix was quite tough as Queen wasn’t holding its beat perfectly and needed some quick thinking.
I always like to drop something unusual in a mix if possible, I’ve got The Cult and Five planned for a future mix.
Can’t get enough of the ska break tunes, but they seem to be relatively scarce. Ah well, I’ll keep looking anyway….

Thanks Lovely, your comments are really appreciated
Yeah you’re probably right, I assume that everything is Steinski & Double Dee, without actually checking.
That would be the Deela tune for the latin funk.
I’d love to do an 80 min mix of skanked out breaks, but I just can’t find enough of them…..I need to purchase Reason or Logic and sort it out π
Cheers Stu – I’ve added Deela to my “wants” list.

Thanks very much mate. I just seem to be lucky with them, and I’m always thinking of what tunes would go with another regardless of genre

Cheers Tom, as always it’s really appreciated. Got another one planned that is similar to this one for sometime soonish.
great party breaks mix – tight as fuck and would rock a dancefloor – boy done good π
was gonna use black betty on a forthcoming mix, but i guess you beat me to it!
Cheers Len, that means a lot buddy.
Defo use ‘Black Betty’, I’d like to hear what you would do with it……
