went to most of them first one was on the unicorn boat and that night was called Flotation jimmy mac organised it and what a night it was, smoke machine and strobe light thats all they had pure rocked da boat

The Rhumba was always in DJ Mags top ten clubs from 91-94…the crowd always up for a giggle and weren’t too up themselves..top guests and legendary residents

loved this mate - brought back many dusty memories - so many of these tunes I have on old tapes and I was almost throwing shapes on the tube on the way into work. Sounded exactly like a club I used to go to when I started raving.

I’m lovin this mix so much it’s even bringing back memories that I’ve never had!!!
Wasn’t clubbing when all this was around, but we had a couple of tapes from a mate in ‘95 that were live nights in the Hacienda and there are quite a few of these tunes on there.

Some classics on here. React 2 Rhythm is top-drawer. I used to obsess over collecting all the guerrilla releases as they were one of the few labels back then to put out artist albums on CD.

Classic Tunes - used to collect all the Rhumba tapes, started going when it was at the citrus club in Edinburgh, and went for a good 5 or 6 years after. You should have added soca fever by afrika bambatta, party people (party people), and the masterblaster (gongo). Great mix though… all great songs from 91 and 92.

Hey folks, some sterling stuff going on here from back in the day…
Rhumba still is the most debauched fun i’ve ever had in my life - who can forget the legendary Graeme Park night when the club was at twice its capacity… full of people who were there for the right reasons!
Along with our esteemed residents, some of the DJ talent who visited was outrageous… Justin Robertson & Andrew Weatherall anyone?
PS I burnt my new breeks on the calor gas heaters at the first flotation!

love the fact that, at last someone is doing something to commemorate the fact we did it and did it well, memories to jimmy rip, i remember jimmy and wayne at heavens above with a young con o d shit hot, into slam nights at fatties on Thursdays then moving into roxannes in Perth, getting into trouble from my boss for running a business within a business, and having to find other ways to run the bus.
to my shame ignoring pleas from rhumba djs to boycott perth.
all in all great times, thanks for the memories sunbather.

Lovely looking mix mate cheers. Was a Roxannes veteran. Graeme Park night mentioned above was one of my all time favourite clubbing moments. Cool as f*ck.
Fridays for the rhumba, Saturdays through to the sub for Atlantis. Best time of ma life.
PS still have a copy of the wee magazine that was produced Cricket journal or summat.

I have the Floatation mix, it’s one of the greatest mixes I’ve ever had the pleasure to listen to.

I started going to the Rhumba in Perth at Roxannes and then it moved, did it not go to Montrose for a bit before going to Fat Sams, or was that just The Sunset Club that was there? That was a long time ago, if there is anyone who used to come up to Fever in Aberdeen let me know. I stopped going to the Rhumba when it moved to Edinburgh, i was good mates with Wayne and Gary back in the day and all the Dundee and Perth crew. Seems like a life time ago!!
