Okay, I’m a little less hungover now so here’s a bit more about the mix.
I made it all with the intention of having a party when it was done so all the tracks are ones that are my favourite upbeat numbers from the last couple of years rather than going for any specific muscial style. It’s all interspersed with clips, video mixes and bad jokes that appeal to me. Kind of a compendium of things I treasure.
I’m well pleased with the way it turned out, and it was fun watching people’s reaction when they saw it for the first time.
If anyone wants a better quality copy on DVD, e-mail me at the address on the cover (serving suggestion: Whack it on at your own party).
Although for non-British viewers, I can’t image the Father Ted and Mighty Boosh remixes would have made much sense - let alone Noel Edmonds and Hi-De-Hi.
Nice stuff dude, worth the effort for the Louis Theroux rap alone!
Some rather bizarre but amusing moments in this for sure!
How did ya put it together?
I figured it’s pretty time-consuming to make the effort to sit down and watch a mix!
Thanks to everyone who did. Your comments mean a lot to me as this was one of the most fun things I’ve done. Probably my favourite bit is the Mylo vs Snuffbox mash-up and the Look Around You mixes. That snuffbox rap just sticks in your head.
Everyone who asked for a DVD, I’ve put them in the post this week. Let me know if they don’t arrive soon.
I put it together mainly through tinkering and trial and error. Sometimes starting with a video, or a clip I wanted to use. Other times, just a favourite song I wanted to include and then chopped and changed until I found stuff that worked together. For the final mix, it was pretty much audio mix first and then stretch the videos to be in synch.
If anyone else has managed to watch it then let me know what you think.
Thought it may have been a Final Cut Pro job cuz the sync is so good. Especially love what you did with the Hi Di Hi / Drop The Pressure mix. Top stuff
Yeah, the video sync was done with Vegas. I’ve been playing around with VirtualDJ Video with an external mix controller for live performances but I’m not confident my set-up is reliable enough to run without problems for a full set yet. My aim is to get the individual videos for tracks prepared in advance and then do the mixing and adding other clips live.
Well finally got the time to watch this at last (thx again for the DVD copy) and loved it all. What a great night’s viewing, this and 6 cans of Kronenbourg…marvellous. I’m not even going to begin asking how long it took to put together. Almost too many highlights to mention. Lots of great tracks I would never have heard without this (Hey Boy tracks/Linda Sundblad/Stereo Total/Le Hammond Inferno). Mylo/Hi Di Hi/Rich Fulcher baby rap bit (where was that from?) was just perfect - worked perfectly. The film clips went really well (dumb & dumber/Steve Martin) and of course Boosh (Heartbeats)/The Mod Wolves and Reeves and Mortimer,as sure a sign of quality as you can get…
“You have been watching” was a nice touch as well. Like it m8, like it.
Altogether now…”Hi Di Hi…Ed can’t hear you…HI DI HI…” and god bless Ron Pickering.
And if it wasn’t for Anthony Carmichael none of us would be here now
A masterpiece Edward. The mix on its own would stand up against most on here but the video overlay is just great.
The Hi de Hi piece is brilliant. I was grinning like an idiot at it
swamp : well, play iz 26 & feed iz 4. so thats deffo 30
matrix : back to zero... let's just assume only 1000 of those downloads were real hehe
matrix : no idea where the links to my mix are coming from... so i've renamed the mix
Der DiskothekerTM : Thanx bong!
bong : corrected
Der DiskothekerTM : dear ops, there is a mistake in the artists list of My House Is Built Of Rock.: the name is Alan Vega, not Aöan ... big thanks if you could correct it
AbeTwist : Still it looks cool, 1215 dl's Hate the fact that MJ's dead by the way, came as sort of a shock
matrix : not guilty, m'lord.
Ken Masters : Michael Jackson RIP
swamp : itz not d/ls. theres bin a direct link posted somewheres, mayb several. so peeps iz klikin on the link repeatedly cos it wont werk. in reality, itz prob around the 50 d/l mark
Der DiskothekerTM : this is more than a hit, this is a miracle: more tham 1.000 downloads in a day on matrix' actual mix!
AbeTwist : wow, that was a fast upload!
swamp : ...promises, promises...
wyse : @Warvadal I've got a tracklist somewhere. I'll find it and upload.
bong : i think the recent database problems caused a flux with people not being able to view the site properly, which in turn would probably have had a knock on effect with the lack of downloads experienced for that 2 week period.. the rest? who knows!
ambientfusion : new mix in the works... been a while. hopefully have it uploaded soon.
Der DiskothekerTM : The box remains mysterious to me. Sometimes a mix runs to some hundreds of downloads in ten days, sometimes it's only a slow dropping even though there is no difference in quality. I'm participating since more than one year now and still don't understand how it works... Nevertheless big thanks to all the mixers who make me puzzle about this question!
Warvadal : @Mr. Wyse. I see you have a mix upload. Do you have a cover and/or tradklist to go with it? I will wait to post it until I hear from you. Peace.
bong : cheers for the fixes naz.. bmbx works great again.. Hurrah!
naz : welcome back
ihou : A Soulful house mix back from 2007 coming on it's way Cheers Mates!
matrix : will do
Boogie Maggoo : If it's not too difficult could you update my mix with the new version? Thx
bong : fair to middlin' thanks useo
useo8 : lo all how ya been?
bong : nice one
shiningsteve : cheers for the tip bong, sent them a mix, should be up there soon
bong : hello all.. just a message to say that the internet radio station, dance biscuit, are wondering if anyone here would like to get involved within their schedule. here's the thread.. «link» don't miss out
bong : well in Max..
Max : Hey guys! Still enjoying the tapes for four years now! Keep it up!
Warvadal : @DJtec. I had some problems with your back cover. Had to resize it (too big). + I don't know if that's the way you wanted it to look (sideways), but that's how it was uploaded. Let me know. I'm out of town until sunday. Peace.
bong : oo ooo ooo ooo.rrrrrrrrrrrr e
dj readybreak : Cheers for the upload peeps, enjoy!
bong : cheers for the headsup
bong : ok. the mix is now vepiks but the comments are still wrong.. will try and see if this can be rectified
