Beatphreak – 101 Mix
This funk, breaks, cuts and samples mash up is the mix that set me on the road to complete plunderphonic debauchery. It took ages and I’m sorry for no tracklisting again, but with over 200 tunes, 100 samples and live bass in places it was more of an experiment that a planned mix. I played this set live in 2001 with a shed load of technology a bass guitar. There is also a layered scratch track in there that I till like now…
As always I will try and identify any track/samples upon request…. Njoy
Just listened to this on my Zen on the way to work & I must say…I’m excited!!!
This is too melodic to classified as “complete plunderphonic debauchery”, as with that label I was expecting it to be a bit messy but there is not a beat out of place on this sampadelic history of old school hip hop, rare groove & breaks. This plays like a Solid Steel Ninja tune set. Say it loud & say it proud….this mix is exciting.
Ok just had to check the Zen, as I’m listening, to make sure my Zen had not moved onto another mix. However it still tells me it’s yours but the music has become….errr different (soppy)
IMHO think you should have left it at 58 min mark, as the ending structure sounds liks a whole new DJ has taken over 😯

totally agree with HDD about the end time.. especially the silence bit, was almost a lirpa collaboration!!! 😉
Really really enjoyed this, brought back some memories with the little snippets of classic tracks.
I’m in two minds about the ending. The tunes are strong enough to pull it through but they do sit slightly awkwardly against the rest of the mix.

great mix, some classic breaks but enough lesser known ones to see it through. Have an extra point if you were responsible for any of the scratching!
Have to agree about the ending though – as nice as it would be on another mix it feels the wrong way to close this one.
