This mix is an attempt at a sonic soundscape (sort of like a landscape painting)using sounds of the bush, birds, insects, frogs, Indigenous instruments, ectra, with some of my fav Aussie artists. It’s ambient, organic (ie:non- electronic),guitar based (surf guitar)pop oriantated music about the heat & current weather conditions in Australia.
Surf (Guitar),Sun (synth drones),Sand (piano & pop).
A more comprehensive interactive tacklisting(including links & videos)can be found on the myface page http://www.myspace.com/djhhd - please visit if this mix rings your bell.
yeah It would have sounded like the biggest fly in the world to your poor cat. Better watch it as the mix has dingos howling & dogs barking in it as well.
Would’nt mind people being really honest with me on this one - you will either like it or hate it - have your say.
Hopefully be back here soon - I have a virus on my PC to clean first.
…An absolute dreamy MiX! Totally EnJoYed the journey. Make me wanna just chillout with my toes in the sand somewhere. Sooooooo chilln’! Awesome mix man! Loved it!
Choc full of wonderful sounds, music & mixing.Took me right away from the winter doldrums to an aural world of all things summer.
Knew the kilbey & midnight oil.Oh,& the floyd sounds were most famiiar.
Love that heavy melting sun cover.
A wonderful listen.
Yeah these mixes do take some time & then get a life of thier own, above me. I approach them like a painting, with an outline first (a concept & listing of tracks) then try & colour in the sections. And I do actually make sections, with usually the middle bit first. I then add to it but always save as another take rather than the original. Many times I have listened back & rejected it. That way I can at least go backwards without having to do it all over again. Other times I will just “paint” the hell out of it until it becomes it’s own colour. The Dijaredoo drone section is 5 tracks over the top of each other.
This mix has 5 different takes, one which was a bit to weird, which involved flies, mozzies, violins & dingo fences, but was too high pitched & was considered by the “vistors to my lab” too horrible for such a nice chilled mix.
You can however view a video of this concept at the bottom of this webpage: http://www.jonroseweb.com/f_projects_great_fences.html
I have other “paintings” like this put aside, Tangerine Drone is one of these, which may turn out to be the most horizontal mix of all or a new age nightmare.
HDD, I loved this one mate. Not heard any before but the atmosphere and samples and Surf geetar were spot on. This is now on rotation at hp towers as the suns is threatening to come out after a 6 month hibernation. Tangerine Drone sounds like my sort of thing as well ;)cheers pal hp :D
LOL so much so that I have just spit my Sushi onto my keyboard - never noticed the phallic like symbol of the cover before - can now though & it’s still making me laugh.
Tangerine drone may not come out untill the end of the year - yer canna have that much chill out in one go, however it seems it’s the sort of stuff I am listening to more & more nowadays - hope I dont become a new age hippie ….again.
