This one jumped the queue of mixes that I need to listen to, not sure why.
First half is too deep for me (does this make me shallow?! :?) Second half picked up nicely and started to entertain me. Mixin was good the whole way through. Not My usual bag, but enjoyable nevertheless.
With a light beat and mellow pads, Quentin Harris dusts off the velvet rope to this smooth opener. The bongos carry over to the bass-fortified, spacey “Foreverinyourlove”, the smooth, bassy build keeps it’s playful build into “Hot One (Oasis)” fluttering flute solo and the “Rise” provocative instrumental.
Dub kicks in to cool things down somewhat, but also to introduce the funky cut “The Bridge” and build into Wild Pitch’s take on “Generate Power”. “Transitions” maintains the strong beat into the warm, rich remix of “I Know That It’s You” before getting funky again. The set closes with a personal favorite of mine: The Todd Terje remix of “Another Station”.
Spacey, funky, lush, and attitude in all the right places. Take care when playing this out loud in public, or with your pals at your place: you will seem cooler than you actually are. You have Steve Townsend to thank for this.
It is fantastic.Put your name in this review & thanks!

Mix The Vibe: 27 Years in the Mix by Lil Louis, March 27, 2002
Reviewer: A music fan
This CD is an excellent mix performed by DJ Lil Louis who I remember hearing DJ at the Bismark and several other Chicago locations during the late 80’s to early 90’s. It plays like one continues flow of soulful house music. Blends are very tight and the selection is very nice. I’m glad Louis decided to produce a mix compilation of some of his work. Being a DJ myself and having heard him live but not for several years, I enjoyed this mix and would encourage any lover of deep/underground house music to purchase this CD. The day I received the CD, I played it relentlessly all day. I would like to see Lil Louis produce another mix compilation as I feel his style of mixing reflects the true character of soulful, deep, underground house music. Louis, you’re still the MAN ON THE TABLES!
