I I I I love it . . .
Have you done all the mash-ups ?
Anyway, like I wrote two lines above, I do really love it…
Thx for those seventy minutes of music.
No, this is all McSleazy’s work – I took about 3 or 4 hours of his stuff and made a CD of what I thought was best…just sharing it for fellow ‘boxers, but I didn’t do anything apart from compile.
For those not knowing, McSleazy is the site-op for GYBO (Get Your Bootlegs On). The site “specializes” in mash-ups the same way b00mb0x “specializes” in long mixes.
It’s all good, eh?
Sure…
I’ve been there some time ago.
Oh, by the way, this kind of music was “invented” by Soulwax no ?
Has anyone heard of something similar done before the famous “As heard on radio soulwax Pt.2” ? (and the rest of the mixes).
The thing George Michael Did with “Papa was a rolling stone” and “killer” was also similar methinks…
“Though the term “bastard pop” first became popular in 2001, the practice of assembling new songs from purloined elements of other tracks stretches back at least to the 1950s, and, if one extends the definition beyond the realm of pop, precursors can be found in Musique concrète, as well as the classical practice of (re-)arranging traditional folk material and the jazz tradition of reinterpreting standards. In addition, many elements of bastard pop culture have antecedents in hip hop and the DIY ethic of punk.
“The appropriation of traditional songs, in particular folk music, has long been a popular pastime among classical composers.”
Yes, that’s him…but don’t get fooled – it’s not tastefully minimalist by choice, it was simply the only result for McSleazy on Google image search at the time 🙂
One more thought – it reminds me of an old science experiment where you listen to two recordings via headphones, one in the left and the other in the right, result is that you can only follow one at a time.
I already knew all these cuts.Took to this like a duck to water.I liked the selection & the flow was good.I played it for some boot-novice company & they liked it very much as well.
Please feel free to post like material.I will listen!

587 downloads and only 2 votes!!!!! Matrix, if Ken is losing sleep after only having 2 votes from 265 downloads (Looney Tunez), you must hallucinating by now… 😉
Gotta try and make voting compulsory somehow, ’cause that doesn’t seem right to me. btw I haven’t downloaded this otherwise I would have voted. 🙂
A bunch of McSleazy cuts for you to enjoy. If you’re not a fan of bootlegs, then move along… nothing to see here…

why do I always have that awful red tape ?
luck of the draw I’m afraid …
dez, http://www.gybo.org is the best place for mashups/bootlegs. we used to have them here but they tend to attract legal attn.
héhé (luck of the draw). . .
anyway, I really think one must have to have a really good musical ear in order to succeed in a good mashup…
I almost got a musical orgasm when I first herad the Dean Gray Album.
Please . . .
Give access to those guys to the Beatles original recordings, they will make something hugely better than the “love” album.
…and where do they get all those instrumentals and a capellas by the way…
(geeez, I’m going to have that big red tape again above)

I’m probably stating the obvious but I just noticed that’s McSleazy in the cover art.

Inspirational!
Downloaded this to give it a try, especially seeing how many have before me. At the moment it isn’t doing it for me, but I’ll let it grow
