Lots of classics, and techno feedback. The UR was a tease, I love that song. Very cool
I like this.
Extended version of the blue room too.
Excellent choice of tunes, nicely unpredictable, and Heliosphan is a great one to end on – always seems Xmassy to me for some reason, that’s prob’ly just me though π
good stuff! π
Very challenging, but quite rewarding. It really goes after one’s ears at first, but then blossoms into more familiar territory while still maintaining the independant feel.
I very much like the progression overall. It reveals your experience in a thorough way.

thanks for the comments, a bit space obsessed lately for some reason
Taken me a little while to get round to this one but really liked it. Always good to hear a nice spacey atmosphere. High production values as well.
I reckon this’ll be a good on to have the headphones at work.
spacey spacey spacey
like my head today

Aphelion by Naz
There’s out there, there’s outter space, and then there’s this galactic transmission. We’re fortunate enough that Naz has the proper transalation skills for the job. Enlightenment? Madness? Either way, the results are that he has single handedly put the solar system into auditory form, and you can bet your ass his mixing is smoother than the Milky Way itself
The mix kicks off with a gentle lecture about various planets in “X102” with a constant tweaked out sound being backed up by orchestra. Throbbing bass fading in and out accompanies crisp beats in the surreal Third Eye Foundation effort. This mix is stellar, spacey, and at times dark; a reminder that there’s not a lot of socializing going on in the stellar abyss.
Bass and keys assault your senses like an asteroid belt before returning you to familiar rock territory with Primal Scream. There’s a delightful cut from Air, the masters of moody, showcasing thier more modern mutated sound. weightless downtempo continues through “Ma’shallah” and continues its quirky ascent well into The Orb’s “Blue Room” followed by Aphex Twin’s “Heliosphan”. Two classics, side by side.
While many Djs are striving to be the next Big Bang, Naz is quite content with manipulating gravity. Apehlion works your mind like a black hole, absorbing you slowly and deconstructiong your thoughts. Pads, synths, and obscure sounds are stretched and distorted, with various beats (ranging from bossa nova to breaks) enhancing the groove. The mix swells and flares like a radio signal bouncing from planet to planet — we’re just lucky enough to have it recorded here.
