Love that cover! I wish i was there now! :D :D 8) 8)
First half I wasn’t too impressed with musically speaking (apart from FSOL), but I personally find vocal house very hit & miss. The second half picked up though. Mixing was bang on throughout, which is the bit that I judge my ratings on; it can still be a great mix but not something that I would listen to. Nice to hear a wide range of variety in your mixes as well, that’s always a bonus.
Hope things are going well with you & yours now that the nipper has come along!
cheers mr bong and stu
For those interested - I did it on the 1’s and 2’s rather than in ableton, and was well pleased with the result!
As for pt 1 - how could you fail to like Sincere? Stone cold garage classic - I remember Norman Jay playing it at the big chill and everyone getting up en masse to get down
Baby and missus are doing well - I’m knackered on the other hand!
Think you’ll find a lot of mixes on here are done on computer - ACID, ableton etc - I’ve used ableton for the last year and found it amazing in terms of what you can do creatively. There’s a lot to be said though for having a good sesh on the decks though
i use wavelab mostly
just recently started using ableton, very good program .. and will proberly incorporate them both at some point in time. used acid a few times too.
Really like this mix, top mixing and glad to see its on the 1s and 2s as opposed to PC for a change. Really like MJ Cole ‘Sincere’ and Kaori ‘Good Life’. I’ve been after that tune since I first heard it on a Ministry Mag cover mount CD back in ‘02. Cracking re-make of the original! Top Stuff!
Cheers Tom!
Stu - Ableton is incredible - think about how good it would be to be able to play umpteen tunes at the same time all in tempo and in key. Then be able to fuck around with (or loop) them with loads of effects and then not have to think about redoing a mix because you dropped a spilff/beer on the turntable mid session. It’s all good.:D Need a decent laptop though and all your music files need warping to use them (takes a little bit of time)
swamp : well, play iz 26 & feed iz 4. so thats deffo 30
matrix : back to zero... let's just assume only 1000 of those downloads were real hehe
matrix : no idea where the links to my mix are coming from... so i've renamed the mix
Der DiskothekerTM : Thanx bong!
bong : corrected
Der DiskothekerTM : dear ops, there is a mistake in the artists list of My House Is Built Of Rock.: the name is Alan Vega, not Aöan ... big thanks if you could correct it
AbeTwist : Still it looks cool, 1215 dl's Hate the fact that MJ's dead by the way, came as sort of a shock
matrix : not guilty, m'lord.
Ken Masters : Michael Jackson RIP
swamp : itz not d/ls. theres bin a direct link posted somewheres, mayb several. so peeps iz klikin on the link repeatedly cos it wont werk. in reality, itz prob around the 50 d/l mark
Der DiskothekerTM : this is more than a hit, this is a miracle: more tham 1.000 downloads in a day on matrix' actual mix!
AbeTwist : wow, that was a fast upload!
swamp : ...promises, promises...
wyse : @Warvadal I've got a tracklist somewhere. I'll find it and upload.
bong : i think the recent database problems caused a flux with people not being able to view the site properly, which in turn would probably have had a knock on effect with the lack of downloads experienced for that 2 week period.. the rest? who knows!
ambientfusion : new mix in the works... been a while. hopefully have it uploaded soon.
Der DiskothekerTM : The box remains mysterious to me. Sometimes a mix runs to some hundreds of downloads in ten days, sometimes it's only a slow dropping even though there is no difference in quality. I'm participating since more than one year now and still don't understand how it works... Nevertheless big thanks to all the mixers who make me puzzle about this question!
Warvadal : @Mr. Wyse. I see you have a mix upload. Do you have a cover and/or tradklist to go with it? I will wait to post it until I hear from you. Peace.
bong : cheers for the fixes naz.. bmbx works great again.. Hurrah!
naz : welcome back
ihou : A Soulful house mix back from 2007 coming on it's way Cheers Mates!
matrix : will do
Boogie Maggoo : If it's not too difficult could you update my mix with the new version? Thx
bong : fair to middlin' thanks useo
useo8 : lo all how ya been?
bong : nice one
shiningsteve : cheers for the tip bong, sent them a mix, should be up there soon
bong : hello all.. just a message to say that the internet radio station, dance biscuit, are wondering if anyone here would like to get involved within their schedule. here's the thread.. «link» don't miss out
bong : well in Max..
Max : Hey guys! Still enjoying the tapes for four years now! Keep it up!
Warvadal : @DJtec. I had some problems with your back cover. Had to resize it (too big). + I don't know if that's the way you wanted it to look (sideways), but that's how it was uploaded. Let me know. I'm out of town until sunday. Peace.
bong : oo ooo ooo ooo.rrrrrrrrrrrr e
dj readybreak : Cheers for the upload peeps, enjoy!
bong : cheers for the headsup
bong : ok. the mix is now vepiks but the comments are still wrong.. will try and see if this can be rectified

A reminder for mixers to keep the image size under 300KB…it saves us having to go to imaging software to do it for you. Cheers.

Ableton? what’s that then? I assumed that everyone uses the 1’s and 2’s.
Personally I’ve got two Denon CD decks and an old CD deck that I use for quotes.
As for ‘Sincere’ I’ve got to be in the mood for it, but it is a classic tune.

What are the benefits of using computer compared to decks? Apart from not taking up as much space.

I enjoy the fact that I mix the tunes and not a computer too much; so when it goes well, it’s all down to me.
But it does also do my head in when I fuck it up halfway through and not having to worry about that would be great!
