Looks like a great track list. I’ma gonna listen to it as soon as I finish off this disc of oldtime Kentucky mountain music.
If you haven’t heard the Mississippi Fred McDowell album ‘Mama Says I’m Crazy’ from Fat Possum I *highly* recommend that. It’s powerful stuff, so a little bit goes a long way. 😉
Nice one Bong/Buff!! Although there’s some errors on your cover art. Aside from a couple of spelling errors, you have the Theme from Rawhide credited to Johnny Cash. I believe it’s Frankie Laine.
Keep up the great work!
Whoops,
Cheers for pointing that out Jimrie. Ill make a mental note ‘Could Try Harder’.
Is it not JC singing rawhide on this mix?
Buff.
nowt to do with me..
i’m just the guy who posted up the mix.
which i am enjoying very much.
😀
Very enjoyable. Didn’t like everything, but far more hits than misses and a nice coherent mood to the whole thing.
Weird…I’m not very familiar with many of these artists, but today was the day that I started investigating Howlin’ Wolf’s Chess Box compilation.
Wanna trayde me mahh here boots fahh you’ses tharr grama-phahnns?
Ah Buffo, this is great! I can’t wait to listen to it again. It feels like one to really explore. It was obviously in danger of being a little one-note but nah, you just nailed it.
This is an grooving mix. Takes me back to old days at boombox when there was a lot of mixing of the blues. Thanks for the memories and the great mix.
Absolute storming selection, really lovin the thought of chillin out my back door with the fire goin, under the stars and a crate of hooch!
I Put A Spell On you is performed by Screaming Jay Hawkins, not Howlin’ Wolf. Great song though. Was key hit in great indie movie by Jim Jarmusch called “Stranger Than Paradise” that gave Jay a brief resurgence in his career.
Oh dear, not another mistake, that’ll teach me to rush the artwork. my apologies to Mr. Hawkins.
Buff
Thanks for the positive coments y’all.
Screamin’ Jay Hawkins acts in another Jarmusch film, Mystery Train, playing a hotel desk clerk who wears possibly the reddest suit in the history of haberdashery.
Nice stuff, the misses plays it lots in her store. Big Cash fan
Just when B00mb0x is in danger of being engulfed by banging house mixes, along comes this fine mix.
Never demanding, just a damn fine listening experience and proof that even old timers can produce good music…well done!!
“Elvis!”
“Carl PERKINS!”
Great movie.
