this is the mix I’ve enjoyed most in making. any mix where i can throw in “Maniac” from Flashdance and have it make sense is a fun mix. Also, the Datarock track is a new version of a Grease song. Enjoy and please tell me what you think.
This one gets off to a retro-bumpin start and doesn’t let up until it’s traveled through some 20 years of dance history. Any mix that has Eurythmics, LCD Soundsystem, and Plastic Bertrand in the tracklist gets top marks from me. This crowd (ie – my ears, brain, and boners) is certainly pleased.
I’m digging the cross generation/ trans continental vibe of this one…and the Datarock track is addictive! Louie Austen and Vanity 6 in the same set? I believe it is indeed time to bite the beat!
wow.. adamski! aint seen u since u played the underground, liverpool all them years ago!!
just had a gander at yer site…
well i didn’t know u was in the stupid baby’s
Holy Smack! Adam Sky leaving a comment! I was so pre-occupied with changing diapers yesterday that I missed it. If you see this, I’m firstly a fan of your production, especially when it shines brilliantly like Killer or One of the People (Rewind!). I was also pleasantly surprised to see you resurface with I Am The Fly . Secondly I was surprised at how great your dj sets are. Yes , I copied the picture from your site because I felt it exemplified the mix. I’m waiting for your next album to come out because your productions have gotten better and better. Maybe on Crosstown Rebels? Enough of me gushing , much respect to you.
Cool thanks! I agree, the Vanity 6 tracks fit that perfect mold of electro, disco punky, and pure sass. As for Prince spinoffs, this and Sheila E are magic.
Hey BTW check out the Apollonia 6 LP too if you haven’t already (an earlier incarnation of Vanity 6) it’s great and more consistent than the Vanity LP!!.. you ever play anywhere in the UK?
I’m a homebody that lives in Florida, but thank you very much. I’ll definitely check out Apollonia 6. I’m 32, so I remember a lot of music in my youth that I’ve gone back to re-discover. You have a different appreciation for certain music after you’ve been exposed to so many styles. I remember Prince and his sexy vixens, and only had a passing interest in their music (was more interested in their bods, strike that- still am). Even with all the music I grew up with, there is a lot I’ve never heard, and that’s what I try to seek out in the context of marrying it with the new and hoping they are interchangeable.
